Course Breakfast
Cuisine bread, bagles
- 4.5 cups flour
- .5 cups Premier Protein vanilla protein powder
- 2 teaspoons yeast
- 2 teaspoons salt
- 1.75 cups lukewarm water
- .25 cups craisins
- 2 teaspoons McCormick cinnamon sugar
In a stand mixer, add the water and yeast and let sit for 5 minutes. Add in the protein powder, flour, salt and craisins and mix in your stand mixer for about 5 minutes. You may need to add a tablespoon or two of flour if the dough is sticking to the sides of your mixing bowl.Let rise for 2 hours. Heat oven to 425. I got 20 mini bagels out of this recipe. I weighed out 1.75 ounces per bagel, rolled each piece into a 7 inch log, then brought the two ends together and pinched to seal.Heat a pot of water - just enough so the bagels don't sit on the bottom, and bring to a boil. Once boiling, add 1 teaspoon of salt and 1 tablespoon baking soda - be careful because the baking soda makes the water rise! Boil for 30 seconds per side, then put on a baking sheet with parchment paper. Bake for 13-14 minutes. Once out of the oven, brush with a bit of butter and sprinkle with cinnamon sugar. I tried adding the cinnamon sugar before baking, but it burned before the bagels were done - so don't do that. :D
