My server was down this morning for quite a bit – so hopefully not too many of you were worried about me š
********************
I love popcorn. Tony made the best homemade popcorn, and I am glad that is one of the skills I was able to make as good as he did. Still working on his fried rice! I could eat a 12 course dinner and if I smell popcorn, I will want to eat it.
So I was thrilled when G.H. Cretors reached out to me and asked if Iād like to get a movie kit from them Um, yes please!
If you have never had āThe Mixā popcorn before, itās the best of both worlds. Salty cheese popcorn mixed with caramel corn. I am weird in that I have to eat a piece of cheese popcorn and a piece of caramel popcorn in each bite. This combo is obsessively delicious!
G.H. Cretors is a local Chicago based popcorn company thatās been around since 1893 when Charles Cretors unveiled the first popcorn machine at the Chicagoās World Fair. Itās made in small batches, they use non-GMO ingredients and popcorn and is 100% gluten-free. Here are some fun facts about popcorn:
- Americanās eat an estimated 17 billion quarts of popcorn every year
- Nearly 70% of popcorn is eaten at home
- Popcorn is the official snack of the State of Illinois, home of G.H. Cretors!
I am giving away TWO 22 ounce bags of The Mix popcorn. Just leave me a comment and let me know if youāve ever had The Mix combo before. I wonder if itās just a Chicago thing?! Good luck ā Iāll pick a winner on Friday.
My eats for the day:

Be back tomorrow with the wonton soup recipe – you are going to want this one in your list of things to make soon!
No, never had it but looks really yummy. I’ll have to check to see if it’s around Texas area. Love your site and have enjoyed it for years.
Never had the popcorn but I too, LOVE popcorn! Sounds delicious.
Never tried The Mix before, but sounds delish. Thanks for the giveaway. š
I love that popcorn and buy the big bags at Costco. Only problem, even with a big bag, it doesn’t last long. š
I saw that mix somewhere, and wondered about it. Now, reading your review, I’d love to try it!! I am a real popcorn fan, and have Skinny Pop almost every night after dinner.
Can hardly wait for your wonton soup recipe!
I’ve never tried it or heard of it! Sounds great!
We have it here in Canada….we call it “crack corn”:) Sooo good!!
I have had the mix but just in the past few years and I think it was called the Chicago mix!
I was wondering where you were!
Not only have I not had that popcorn, I’ve never heard of that brand. I’d love to try a bag.
Thanks to Costco, I’ve been a big fan of the Chicago Mix for quite awhile.
That sounds delicious. I’ve never tried it and never tried the brand before. I’ll have to see if it’s available in CA. Yum!
I always get a big bag of it from Garretts everytime I fly into O’hare. Although I always pick out the Cheddar and my husband eats the caramel. We’re really a match made in heaven haha
I have never tried that combo of popcorn before! I have heard of it… But I do find the idea of sweet/savory combo appealing.
I cant wait for the soup recipe!! It looks so yummy!
The outtakes are hilarious!! I love this blog because you keep it so real!
I’m in Indianapolis for work and I picked up a small bag of “Indy mix” which is the exact same thing – caramel and cheese! It was yummy and I’ll probably have to grab a small bag on the way back!
I was raised on popcorn and tomato soup. This is still one of my favorite things. Now I make popcorn in the microwave using a glass popcorn popper.
I LOVE the mix! I can easily put away a bag all by myself ??āāļø
I’m a New Yorker so I’ve never heard of this popcorn! Sounds yummy!
My…oh my….the mix is so addicting. Bought a large bag on Thursday, gone by Saturday night. Points be darned that week. So tasty, especially for those of us a long way away from Garrets!
Karin
I eat lots of popcorn but never heard of this brand except from you…… The soup looks wonderful….
I confess: I cannot resist The Garrett Mix (formerly, Chicago mix)! Garrett’s is my downfall – I find that stuff irresistible. I’d love to try G.H. Gretors. I’m not familiar with it and I definitely live in Illinois.
