You may know by now that I puffy heart Chobani. Like a lot. It has just the right amount of tang, and I always buy the plain when I make a parfait so that the fruit and the granola balance with the yogurt and it’s not overly sweet. But, I have to say, I am frugal when it comes to the grocery store, and my eyes wandered to this yogurt:
I am sure I’ve seen this brand of yogurt before, but what caught my eye was that it had more protein than sugar in a serving, and since I’ve been on my 30 day protein challenge, I picked this one. I was out of my homemade granola and since I was picking up stuff for my bosses birthday at the store, I ended up picking up Honey Bunches of Oats Dark Chocolate Protein Granola – never saw this one before, but for a 1/2 cup serving, there was 10 grams of protein!
And to round out my breakfast, I had a hard boiled egg and a tangerine on the side – breakfast came in at 449 calories, 54 carbs, 4.3 fiber, 11 fat and 33 grams of protein.
So I really liked the Siggi’s yogurt – even though I got the mixed berry flavor, it still was super tangy and it seemed to be a bit thicker than Chobani.
I went to the gym at lunch – while it was in the upper 60s it was super stormy all day. I did a quick 2 miles while watching The Chew.
And the gym . . . completely mine! I should have done a circuit between all the empty machines!
After my workout I went to the store to pick up my bosses cake and ended up picking up a new knife to use at work. All the knives at work are so dull and cheap that no amount of sharpening is going to bring them back. It was only $14, but it’s amazing what a good knife can do! Um, turns out I bought both my bosses salads at work and I made chopped salads out of them. Are they spoiled or what??!!
I found a lone spaghetti squash in my pantry, not sure how long it’s been in there, but I decided to microwave it before and then let it cool and threw it in a plastic bag and hoped for the best. It was fine, so I ended up having leftover chili on top of the squash for a really filling lunch… with 42 grams of protein!
After work I got more steps in. I may or may not have had to take a poop so I had to get off, take care of business and jump back on – 2.75 miles in total.
Hannah texted me earlier in the day asking if her friend Mel and her son Carver could sleep over last night because they needed a place to stay. I of course said yes. I had declared Thursday leftover night, but as I was driving home I was trying to think what I had on hand to make for an actual dinner. Well, nachos was the first thing that jumped out at me. Nothing particularly healthy about this meal, but it was quick and easy and we just ate it right off the cookie sheet and ate our nachos on napkins, you know, because we are klassy like that.
I ate about 8 chips just like this one – we all still loved the freshness of the tomatillo and English cucumber salsa.
After dinner the 3 year old got his p.j.s on – it was nearly impossible for me to take a picture of him because he’s a boy and keeps moving, but check out his snowman jammies!
I kicked butt on my steps again yesterday – check it out:
I still have until April 20 to do my final weigh in, and even though my 90/10 21 day detox ends on Sunday, I am going to continue to keep on going until my final weigh in. I still have 1.8 to lose before then, and I’ll have my third WI on Monday. I do have to say that eating a minimum of 30 grams of protein per meal is helping me not snack at all. I am so full and satisfied I don’t even think about eating in between meals – best non-scale victory!
Happy Friday – hopefully the weekend will be nice. I think the worst of the weather went north of us last night, but my weather app was all stormy! I loved that it was 66 degrees at 9 p.m.!
Make it a great day, and have a nice weekend!
Oh my gosh. HBOO makes protein granola? Must. Find. I have never had Siggi’s before, but I’ve seen it at the store. Might have to try it now that it is Biz featured and approved. 🙂
You are rocking the dietbet challenge! I hope you win.
I always label my food that goods in the freezer and put a date on it and I have a notebook where I write down what’s in the freezer. Yes I know: I’m over organized LOL
OK, it was my first time visiting your blog–You make some AMAZING food. I should try and up the protein in my diet. I haven’t been doing so well in the nutrition department lately.
Great job getting in all those steps!!
The 3 year old boy not even stopping didn’t surprise me one bit! 😉 Too cute on his jammies. Happy Friday Biz! Here’s to hopefully some sunshine and warmer weather!!!
I’ll take sunny and 60s all day! Hope your green egg makes an appearance soon!
How do your Hard boiled eggs always look so perfect? Mine NEVER look like that.
Here is a link to making perfect hard boiled eggs. The only thing I do different than in this post is that after the eggs get to room temperature, but them back in the pot, cover with an inch of water, put the lid back on and shake the pot back and forth, the shells come right off!

I used to love Siggi’s. I think the only dairy I really miss is greek yogurt. I miss my 3 year old boy, but 8 is so much fun too. Aren’t they amazingly energetic?!!
You are doing such a great job on your diet bet. I am cheering for you Biz!! Have a wonderful weekend. 🙂
Yep, boys are always on the go – with Hannah and my nieces they could sit at the table and color and do crafts for hours, the 3 year old boy scribbles something on a piece of paper and then wants to move on! Your son is getting so big!
Thanks to your inspiration I have been working on adding more protein into my diet – sometimes I just have carbs until dinner – not cool!!
Glad you are getting more protein Kim – I am loving this challenge!
I think when I originally tried a Paleo challenge is when I realized how protein and good fats actually seem to work better for me at satisfaction. To this day, I generally restrict grainy carbs to one serving a day – which is almost much what you did this day. I like potato, rice, pasta, etc. but if I eat too much of it, it doesn’t like me. Oh well! I guess if I need to get back to eating more of that stuff, I need to start marathon training again LOL!
I love the idea of putting a pan of nachos in the table and everyone informally going at it. I often think times like those are the ones that make memories.
I think you are right Helen – it was low key, and we just sat around and talked and ate nachos! I just stepped on the scale this morning and I am down 7.9 pounds the last 19 days! I think the higher protein is helping me not take the licks and tastes in between meals that I just kind of never thought of as eating calories! Hope the weather is good to you guys this weekend and you can sit out on your patio!
I like yogurt and I’m frugal. I’ve been buying the Trader Joe’s greek stuff, but the full fat because it’s a lot cheaper than the nonfat. I made up a ranch spice mix to mix in, and i have to say, it’s pretty good. That’s how I’ve been getting my yogurt.
Nachos. You really can’t go wrong with nachos.
Yes your bosses are spoiled. And I am starting to love chopped salads! So much less boring than regular.
Ah 3 year old boys, so fun and they don’t sit still!
I think that’s the thing too, since my daughter and my nieces were the first grandchildren, I was used to girls – boys are a whole other animal!
Nachos are meant to be eaten off the baking sheet. With napkins! The time I was most successful at dieting was when I ate a lot of protein. Now I have to do it again! Have a great weekend!
Yep, all calories are not created equal – and the extra protein really helps me get my steps in – between my lunch and after work workouts, I do about 90 minutes a day 😀
Have a great weekend Joyce!
I was going to mention I book the doctor gave me called Protein Power. It was a good book and when I follow it I really feel better.
Even though I lost 70 lbs and am forbidden by the doctor….all of them….to lose ANY more, I realize by reading your blog that I need more protein to give me more energy and much less carbs. Thanks for giving us such good advice and educating a lot of us who just didn’t “get it” before. And because of your love for Chiobani, I buy it regularly at our local Wegmans. Now I am addicted! I have never seen in our area the new one you bought…yet anyway. Have a great weekend!
So sorry that I haven’t been commenting much lately- I promise I always read!! I love when you write puffy heart :). Siggi’s is fabulous but SO expensive! THat dinner…need! happy Friday!
Maybe that’s why I haven’t picked it up before, but my store was selling it 10/$10! I need to stock up! No worries Erica – love following you on Instagram!
Glad you are doing well on the dietbet. I have crashed and burned this week. The death of my grandma , work and 3 projects at school has pushed me over the edge. Not eating what I should or walking. I am going to push myself this weekend to get back on board even if I don’t meet my goal this time on dietbet.
Hope your weather improves, we are driving to Austin this weekend and might hit bad weather. Not looking forward to that.
I think I wrote to you on Facebook Paula, but so sorry for the loss of your Grandma – that’s a lot to handle – safe travels this weekend and hope the weather cooperates! Hugs!
