I was all set to go to the gym yesterday morning. Food was packed, my gym bag packed. Tony was up watching the news so I snuggled with him for a few minutes before getting my ass out of the door in 22 degree weather, with a wind chill, it felt like 10. I grab my coffee and . . . I can’t find my fucking keys. It drives Tony nuts that I can’t ever put anything back in the same place twice. I looked for a solid 10 minutes, but then I just ended up taking the extra key off of Tony’s key ring and was on my way.
The sad thing though? Guess where I looked? In the bag I bought my brining bag from Bed Bath & Beyond. In the freezer, because I brought a bag of ice in. And in the downstairs fridge, because I put stuff down there too. Gah! What was frustrating is that my key fob for the gym and to get into my building is on my key ring. For the month of November at the gym, every time you swipe your card you get a chance to play bingo and win prizes, like a free months pass, or credit to the bar/grill area or the gift shop. I asked for my numbers, but since I didn’t have my key fob, he wouldn’t give them to me! I peaked though and I had one of the numbers, so I will fill it in next time.
Since I got a late start, I didn’t even start my workout until 7:45!
Can you see the stains on my shirt. Tony is one lucky man! Luckily it only took me 45 minutes to complete, and I even showered, dressed and was at my desk at 8:45. Helps to be low maintenance sometimes!
I had a new personal record yesterday – I am up to 60 pounds on the standing calf raises!
On Sunday I made six breakfast tacos for the week. I could literally eat these every day and never get sick of them. This time I scrambled 1 cup of egg beaters with 1/2 a cup of egg whites, 2 shredded zucchini, six slices of deli ham and 2 ounces of shredded cheese. I divided that egg mixture between six blue corn tortillas, and fried them up in a teaspoon of coconut oil. Once cooled I put in Ziploc baggies to grab and go. At work I put them in the toaster oven – under broil – 5 minutes a side at 400 degrees. They come back to their crunchy goodness. On the side was an apple cinnamon Chobani. Still have yet to find the coconut ones!
After my 15 mile bike ride on Sunday, I realized I still had 61 miles to go in my 125 mile challenge, so I hopped on the bike at lunch – ended up doing 10 miles while watching The Chew. They were doing Thanksgiving side dishes and Daphne made a broccoli and orzo casserole that looked really good! There she is pouring the broccoli mixture in with the orzo. We love orzo, but I hardly ever remember to make it.
Lunch was a taco salad. It was a sad day yesterday. I had to say goodbye to another bottle of hot sauce. I love Tapatio hot sauce because its flavorful, not too spicy and has a vinegary kick.
This time my tomatillo salsa/ranch dressing mix doesn’t look like cat throw up. I had romaine, carrots, cucumbers, half an avocado and 3 ounces of ground beef taco meat.
We had a birthday celebration in our office yesterday – so the season of treats has begun! On the menu? Baskin Robbins chocolate cake with chocolate chip icing with baby ice cream cones on top. How cute is this cake??
I am usually the designated cake cutter in the office, and I am proud to say that I didn’t even have one taste of cake. NSV of the day! And for your information, I have already declared ice cream cake insulin worthy! But I realized this is going to be the first of many holiday treats that are going to come my way, but I just have to take control and not let the food control me.
Later in the afternoon I get a text from Tony. Here is our latest installment:
Yep, he found my keys! He looked in the bag from Bed Bath & Beyond, in the freezer by the ice, just like I did. He then had a thought – what if I dropped them in the driveway? Sure enough he was going to get the mail when he literally stepped on them! Whew! Note to self – just hang them up on the key rack where they belong.
I never did a full grocery shop this week, but we have plenty of options. I had two Italian sausage links, mushroom, frozen edamame and pasta. Since Tony isn’t into red sauces much anymore, I just made a quick alfredo sauce. Super quick Monday night dinner – 20 minutes tops. You can always tell when I am hungry because the plating suffers when I just want to get it in my belly!
So with this new self-hosting site, I think you will have to re-subscribe if you follow by email. I’ve sent an email to wordpress.com to see if they can transfer them over, but I got stuck in forum hell before being actually able to send an email. Sorry for the hassle!

Today I am back to arms/back/abs/sprints and what I just noticed was a low carb day! I have to admit, I haven’t really been following the nutrition part of this program – I think maybe I should check it out. I just noticed that starting this week 10, they specify different days of low carb and high carb – huh?! They also suggest several small meals a day, but that would just be two to three more insulin shots I’d have to take, so I don’t do that. Do any of you guys alternate between high and low carb days during the week?
Make it a great day!
That sounds like a frustrating start to the morning. I am the Tony in my relationship, everything always has to go in its place. That being said I still find myself constantly searching for my phone and/or the remote!
We love hot sauce also, we buy our Tapatio at Costco! Huge bottles of it. I find it impossible to have any kind of egg without dousing it in hot sauce.
You’re looking so good. At least you didn’t drive over your key ring in the driveway and ruined the key fob. Good sleuth work, Tony!
I know, right? I’ve lost those special key fobs once before – cost $70 to replace!
My favorite part is that Tony found your keys and said at least they weren’t anyplace dumb!!
Yep, I have a winner. And at least that was a text I could publish to the world! 😀
You really are looking great! Also a great NSV — not having any of the cake. It’s easier than trying to just have one bite, at least it is for me.
I’m also a key loser. I’m doing better since we finally put a little rack up for our keys. Now I remember “most” of the time to hang mine there.
Thanks Caron! Remember, you are still at my goal weight! 😀
Babies ruined me – I was smart until I had kids. Now I lose everything…!
That alfredo looks sooooooo good!
Ha – that made me laugh out loud Courtney!
The cake looks delicious although I am now a “hopelessly in love “cake boss” cake fan” never to return to any other form of cake!!! Otherwise, I think I could pass up most sweets except ice cream!!!!
Keys….I am always putting them in different places, but most usually they end up in my purse. Whew. It was nice of Tony to track them down for you…great guy!!! (how did your Bears do Tony??? Packers tied ~ what was that all about???)
Your blog was much better today, I am in IE right now, so glad I don’t have to go to GC to get your blog!!! Food looks good today and so do you. “You’ve come a long way baby” Nope can’t see the stain on your shirt 🙂 and yes Tony is one “blessed” man to have you!!!
Don’t ask Tony about the Bears – he was pretty upset! And its weird that there was a tie in football, didn’t even know that could happen!
Hope you have an awesome Thanksgiving Louise!
haha about the keys. I keep mine in the ignition at all times. I do not EVER take them out. YES, even when shopping and the car is in the parking lot. The keys do not leave the ignition. This way I never lose them. I may have my car stolen but I will never lose my keys!!! LOL. Cakes and cookies and treats will all still be there when you;ve met your goal….just let it go and pass it all up. It’s so tempting with this season upon us, but stick with your goal girl!
That’s funny – my grandma used to do the same thing and it drove me crazy that the keys were in the car the whole time we were grocery shopping!
Thanks for the continued support Jody!
Hey there Skinny Mini! Seriously, you’re looking so awesome! I could definitely eat that breakfast and lunch every.single.day. Yum! I have never thought of going low carb and then high carb, sounds like a lot of work when it comes to meal planning….lol
Not really Sam – I think one day I’ll have an egg white omelet with veggies, then the next day oatmeal with fruit – I’ll let you know how it goes!
I am forever losing my keys. I tend to toss them wherever when I come in and then promptly forget where that is. 😀 I don’t know what I would do without John!
Did you change a setting on your blog for feed posts? When your blog pops up in my reader, I can’t see the whole thing and have to open it in a new winder.
Hmmmm…..I am not sure about the feed posts – I’ll have to ask my technical advisor, aka my brother Charlie!
My husband taught me years ago to always walk in the house and put the keys in a designated place. I do that 99% of the time. Funny enough, he doesn’t – often throws them on the counter or leaves them in a coat pocket and then he’s yelling “have you seen my keys?” LOL
I let myself have treats this time of year but they must be extra special and not store bought – that really helps keep it to a minimum!
That’s a good tip – nothing store bought because its usually not worth it! And I do have a key rack, I just can never seem to get them on it!
Yup the treats have started and I have to decide which ones are worth it or not. CHocolate usually makes it though. Have a Fantastic Thanksgiving Biz!!!
Thanks Robin Sue – you too! Are you going to Smith Mountain Lake??
We have a little hook thingie for keys – which helps get them in the general area, if not always on the hook. I rarely lose things but Jeff does all the time. Leads to frustration all around! Glad Tony found your keys and that they didn’t get frozen over beforehand!
And luckily it wasn’t snowing and they got stuck in the snow blower!!
You are looking really thin! That’s great! When are you going to weigh again? Curious, since you look like you have definitely lost! GREAT job! =)
My next WI is on Saturday! I will redo my measurements then too – on June 1 I was 176!
I am pretty good about not losing my keys, but I lose everything else!
Do you use a hunk o’ Parmesan when you make your alfredo? I’ve never made a homemade alfredo sauce, but I would think the jarred stuff would just clump up and be icky?
I actually buy fresh grated Parmesan cheese from my local grocery store – a two cup container is usually around $4-5 bucks and it works perfect every time.
Sounds familiar…my husband loses track of things like keys, wallet, id card for work – so every morning when we’re leaving I say ‘keys, id, wallet’ and he automatically says ‘yes’ and then starts running around looking for one of them 🙂 Glad Tony found them for you. AND – that cake is ADORABLE! Too cute to eat 😉 Have a good day!
Glad I am not the only one Lynne! Does it drive you as nuts as it drives Tony?! 😀
