For being a full work week, it actually went by pretty quickly! I’ll take it.
I got several emails asking if my pillowcase method for organizing my workout clothes worked. The answer is yes and no. My idea was to pack five pillowcases of workout clothes, put the dirty clothes back in the pillowcase and then put a ponytail holder to secure the top of the pillowcase and wash and dry the contents together and bam, I am ready to go.
Turns out the ponytail holders didn’t stay on, so all the contents came out in the wash, but when I used a rubber band, it worked! I secured it at the very end so they would have room to move around, and nothing got too wrinkled. I just love the fact that I am not scrambling around trying to find sox and workout bras! I will definitely keep that up this year.
Um, guess who likes granola? Tony!! The last batch I made is Nicole’s olive oil granola, and this one is a winner. I am definitely making more this weekend. My breakfast was another parfait – with bananas, apples and granola.
I love, love, love how crunchy and “clustery” this granola turns out.
I was planning on doing the 100 Workout again yesterday, but when I saw Emily post this Killer Kardio workout, I had forgotten I pinned that on Pinterest months ago and never tried it.
Hopefully you can click on it and it will get bigger – there are also three sets:
First set:
- jump rope 1 minute
- high knees 1 minute
- butt kicks 1 minute
- jumping jacks 1 minute
- burpees (20) – I did crunches instead!
- run 10 minutes
Second set:
- jump rope 1 minute
- high knees 1 minute
- butt kicks 1 minute
- jumping jacks 1 minute
- 20 pushups
- 20 tricep dips
- run 10 minutes
Third set:
- jump rope 1 minute
- high knees 1 minute
- butt kicks 1 minute
- jumping jacks 1 minute
- mountain climbers 1 minute
- run 10 minutes
I somehow thought I’d be able to finish that whole routine during my lunch hour break, but I ended up cutting the run times to 8 minutes – it took me just about 45 minutes to complete the circuit – it was tough – especially the first run – the calves were killing me, but by the end I felt fine. I increased the speed for every 8 mile run too!
I made another potato crusted quiche, except this time I used unsweetened almond milk, and reduced the ham to 2 ounces – so good and it brought the calories down to 202 calories for 1/4 of the pie.
Even though I ate later in the day, this wasn’t very filling and I have to tell you, I was a bit hungry around 4:00. But then I told myself “it’s okay to be hungry, you’ll be eating dinner in a couple hours!” I did end up having a skinny café mocha though, and that did the trick at only 50 calories.
I bought Italian sausage last weekend to make my lightened Bolognese, but I never got around to making it. I told Tony that we had the sausage and asked for a suggestion and he said “whatever you want babe.”
Which meant one thing:
PIZZA!!!
I made this version of no rise pizza dough – the only difference from mine is it calls for 3/4 cup of water vs. my 1 cup.
I also took her advice and put my dough on parchment paper to bring it over to the hot pizza stone. After the first five minutes, I just removed it. My side was sausage and orange pepper – Tony’s side was sausage and mushroom.
I baked this for 10 minutes at 500 degrees. This is so quick and easy, the longest part was waiting for my oven to come to temperature!
And guess what? I only had two pieces. Yep, it was my first indulgent meal of the week, but I ate in moderation. I didn’t even take another tiny slice when I was putting it away either – and didn’t snack at all last night – who the fuck am I?
More football this weekend – I plan on going to Williams-Sonoma over the weekend to buy this:
A Cuisinart smoothie blender – I would never spend $65 on it if it was my money, but since I have a gift card, it’s free!
What I would love someday? A Vitamix! This bad boy is about $500 dollars though!
Question of the Day: What kind of blender do you have?
Alright – off to get ready for work – make it a great day!!
I have some blender that was in my MIL’s garage for years, I think it is an Oster? My MIL is the housewares manager at Dillards so her garage is like a Dillard’s stock room 🙂 Oh and your pizza looks awesome!
Thank you for this. My boyfriend will love it!
I’m glad the pillowcase is working out for you and your are rockin the exercise!
I love homemade granola – too much- can’t have it around right now!
I have a Blendtec blender and love it! It makes quick work of smoothies, hummus, dips and everything! Well worth the money.
That pizza looks SO good…mmmm, making me hungry 🙂
I have no blender…well, I have an immersion blender, which works pretty well! 🙂
I have a vita mix. I went thru a lot of other blenders until I bit the bullet and bought that. Its the BEST. I got it on QVC, it was a todays special value so I was able to pay it off in 6 months. Its been totally worth it. I use it for EVERYTHING. Smoothies, breadcrumbs, pureeing tomatoes, pesto, etc, etc.
Oh boy, now I want pizza! I need to try that no rise crust, as I hate making my own because I always fail! And that Killer Cardio workout looks hard! Glad you did it!
That pizza looks great!!! I think I would have a hard time stopping at 2 pieces though 🙁 . As for blenders, I have a bullet, and a actual smoothie blender (which I don’t use… put it in my garage sale and it didn’t sell) and an immersable blender which I use for creamed soups. I would like to get that Nutri-Bullet one of these days.
Oh, that dreamcicle smoothie was delicious!!!! Still have the recipe up on my blog.
I own a Kitchen Aid which once was at the top of America’s Test Kitchen’s list, but now is at the bottom because of reports of leaks and cracking (none of which I’ve experienced, knock on wood.) I don’t ever see myself owning a Vitamixer or Blendtec. I don’t use blenders enough to justify the cost. Enjoy the new blender and happy Friday!
3 years ago, B came home with a huge box on Valentines. I was surprised bc we don’t celebrate what we call a hallmark holiday… It was a VitaMix! I cried. :0)
Can’t complain about pizza on a Thursday. We have a pretty decent Cuisinart/Food Processor combo unit, but I wouldn’t mind a Vitamix. That Killer Cardio, looks just that. Good for you!
i have a magic bullet. i only really use it to make smoothies, so its PERFECT! Your pizzas always look 100% perfect. Have a great weekend
I think we have an Oster blender? No high end at all. We also have one of those bullet blender, which I love, although you can’t use it for big items.
I have to really tell myself that it is okay to be hungry sometimes!
I like that you are mixing things up with your workouts – keeps it interesting!
I have a Kitchen Aid blender – my first one lasted for a long, long time, so when it finally died I bought the same thing. I’d love a Vitamix, too, but no way would I spend that kinda money on one. Hope you love your new blender!
We have an Oster blender -works pretty well, but I also have a food processor, mixer and immersion blender, so all I use it for is the occasional smoothie.
That pizza is AMAZING! Delish!
Your workouts are hard core! I can’t wait to get better & back in action so I can do some of these. I need a jumpstart in that dept for sure!
Blenders…just a bullet & a regular blender. A Vitamix or Blendtec are always on my wish list…unless they’re gifts from above I’ll probably never get one. 😀
Wow–that workout looks killer. I hate jump roping, though, so that’s probably why I cringed while reading it. 🙂
Yay for a blender to make smoothies!!! That’s so exciting. I do have a Vitamix, but that’s because I bought it with gift cards we received as wedding gifts. We didn’t register (I didn’t feel right about doing that–we have plenty of nice things as it is), but this was one appliance I really wanted, and my husband was totally in support of it. So, that was our one big wedding gift for each other. 🙂 Prior to that, I used a magic bullet. I actually still use it once in a while, it’s a great little blender!
I can’t get enough of your breakfast parfaits. Do you use about a cup of yogurt and then add all of yummy looking additions? I want to try the granola and while I enjoy dried fruit the hubby isn’t so fond of that much in his granola. Do you think I can leave out some of it and sub out the maple syrup for a sugar free syrup?
Yeah on the blender purchase.I know you will make lots of green monsters in it. I need to use mine more often. It is some type of interchangeable one that goes from blender to food processor. The husband got it for me:)
I forgot to go back and comment on your weight loss the other day. Congrats! You are doing so great! Personally, I think you are doing better than you give yourself credit. Muscle weighs more than fat and all the workouts you have been doing must be building muscle.
We had a Wednesday Pizza party! 🙂 YUM!
I have a Vitamix- I actually got it through QVC. They do have a 3 payment plan to make it easier. I also saw Costco had them for the Christmas season & they were under $400!! 🙂 PS- best kitchen appliance I own!
At our house we have a normal blender, but at my IL’s (which is like seven minutes away tops) there is a Blend Tec. Same concept as the Vita Mix! We got it at Costco and it was only 400.00 maybe? It might have been 300.00, can’t remember. I love it! Love making soup, soft serve, dressings, and homemade staples (flour & pb). I also liked tasting the fresh fruit juice and thought it was awesome that you can leave several wierd parts of the fruits (banana skins, strawberry hulls, kiwi skins, and other stuff); made me feel better drinking it.
First to comment! Yeah for Party Pizza Thursday. I also had a smaller version of dinner and only a banana at night – victory! I’m just heating up my breakfast, and I’ll call you in a few
