Tony and I are really good about getting our flu shots each fall. I usually use my sick days for wellness doctor appointments. I talked about having a cough earlier in the week. I don’t know what it was, but yesterday on my drive in my coughing fits got worse and worse.
At work I kept trying to hold it in and not cough. Around 9:30 I called my doctors office and got an appointment at 11:00 a.m. Turns out I have bronchitis! The last time I was sick I had bronchitis too! He prescribed a cough medicine and z-pac. I should be fine by Monday. No wonder I was having trouble working out! I did the recumbent bike earlier in the week because it felt better for my lungs.
I completely expected to go back to work, but he told me to go home. I left all my stuff at work, my camera, workout bag, lunch, etc.
I had a new kind of oats for breakfast. My Mom and I hit up the Thomas/Entenmanns outlet store on Wednesday, and I picked up this oatmeal:
It’s the same calories as regular oats, but it must be low glycemic because even with 1/2 cup of strawberries and 1/4 cup of trail mix, two hours after lunch and my blood sugar was only 153 – nice!
I came home and fixed myself some tomato soup and a grilled cheese sammie. Perfect comfort food for when you are sick.
Tony cannot stand the smell or taste of tomato soup for some reason – I love it, but there are 20 grams of carbs per half a cup, so I don’t have it too often.
I took the first two pills, then the cough medicine and went to lie down on the couch. I zonked out and slept for about an hour! I obviously didn’t feel like cooking, so Tony made a Jimmy John’s run.
Okay, so Errign talked about recording this show:
While I am pretty sure that Tony will never watch this show again, this will be my guilty pleasure!
So the winner of the autographed Jane Fonda cookbook is . . .

I have a LOT of cookbooks. I use a Taste Of Home Annual and a Southern Living Cookbook the most. But when I have to pull something out of my hat, I go to the Junior League/Church ladies cookbooks.
I love that you thrift. We get better stuff at thrift and consign than we could afford at first run retail or even outlet prices.
Congratulations Maggie! Send me your mailing address to mybizzykitchen@gmail.com.
Alright, I have to get ready for work – make it a great day!
Bronchitis? You don’t have a marathon coming up, do you?
Hope you feel better soon!
YES! Honey Boo Boo is so entertaining. Enjoy the trainwreck.
Ohmahgoodness….all that vajiggle jaggle is not beautimous! i about died-that show is pretty much awesome. lol! I really do not like the pageant aspect but their family dynamic and the redneckedness is awesome.
Anyway, I’m sorry to hear about your bronchitis!! Hope you get better super fast!!
I hope you are feeling better!
I hope you are feeling better! Being sick is the worst!
I hope you’re feeling better today Biz! Bronchitis is a beast. I used to get it all the time (related to mold in an apt I lived in – ugh!) Get plenty of rest!
Love your choice in comfort food – pure comfort!
Hope you’re feeling better soon! I get bronchitis every year 🙁
aw, brochitis is the worst! i get it every year. i hope you’re feeling better soon!
I would bring you soup if I lived closer! Get some rest and feel better!! 🙂
I know you would MJ! 😀 Thanks.
Take a little R&R (rest and recuperation) this week-end. Make some good Chicken soup with noodles that is always good when you are sick. When I was a kid my mom would make soft boiled eggs in the egg maker and toast. But I like tomato soup too! Are you still using your pinini machine??? I have been making my sammies in my George Foreman machine. Makes a great sandwich.
What do you consider a good blood sugar number? Today I was 126 and thought that was good for me. I average 135, don’t know if that is high or normal.
Well, I have 57 miles in on the 100 mile challenge, half way there:)
Louise you are doing great! An average blood sugar of 135 is still within the normal range. If it starts getting over 150, or if you have readings near 200, then I would be a bit worried.
This bronchitis is slowing me down on my challenge, but I hope to be back on the bike on Monday! Great job on 57 miles!!
Hope you feel better, Biz!
Have a great weekend Biz and feel better soon! I love tomato soup too…and gazpacho. Mmmm.
Bronchitis?! Biz! Take care of yourself…wishing you a speedy recovery!
Feel better soon my friend!!!!!!!!
Hope the meds are working and that you’re feeling better already. Chicken soup is easy and good for you . . . I hardly ever eat commercial soups now, but I’m with Tony. I never did like Campbell’s tomato. My childhood favorite was . . .cream of Mushroom. Which now wd make me gag!
Ew – cream of mushroom soup just reminds me of icky casseroles that used to be served at our church pot lucks.
Sucks to be sick but I’m glad you caught it before it got much worse. Hope the Z-pack does the trick and you are 100% quickly!
Have a great weekend!
Oh hope you feel better!! I had bronchitis once (along with an ear and throat infection).
Now I really want a grilled cheese/ham and tomato soup!! And I love Jimmy Johns (#12 Beach club, no mayo).
I’m pretty sure I will NEVER watch that show. Never. Ever.
Hope you are feeling better. At least the heat wave broke and you aren’t sick in that horrible heat!
Hope you get to rest up this weekend and feel better Biz! I’ve never seen that show, I think I’m with Tony though…lol!
Glad you got your cough checked out! Get better soon!
Thanks Jenn – miss your posts! 🙁
Tomato soup has that many carbs? Really? I had no idea! Hope you feel better soon.
Yep – 1/2 a cup has 20 grams – and there are 2.5 servings in a can – so 50 grams of carbs if you eat the whole can, which is really easy to do.
I hardly ever get sick either and I know how lucky I am. I’m glad you went to the doctor. Have a nice restful weekend. 🙂
Feel better Biz!
Funny – I was thinking that it’s too bad you didn’t find out Monday morn that you were sick so you’d be better by the w/e! Heal fast, Biz. Let Tony be your private duty nurse!
I do rock a nurses uniform!
I hope you feel better quickly. Personally I just like saying Honey Boo Boo. I probably won’t get around to watching the show other than clips here and there. How about the reality show about siamese twins Abby and Brittany?! Oh what will it be next. Feel better Biz!!
Yep, I’ve been watching Abby and Brittany for years – definitely going to DVR that show and pretty sure that will also be deemed a “back t.v.” show!
Oh dear! Feel better soon. It looks like you are eating well.
Best,
Bonnie
Thank goodness you went to the doctor!! Feel better, Biz!
Hope you feel better soon, Biz!
Ray gets angry just watching the commercials for Honey Boo Boo, cracks me up!
Feel better! Thankfully it’s Friday and you have the whole weekend to rest!
