I woke up late yesterday morning. My alarm went off at 6 as usual. I was awake, but turned off the alarm and decided to give myself another couple minutes. It was perfect, all toasty and snuggling with Tony under our down comforter. The next thing I knew it was 6:45! Too late to go to the gym. A week ago I would have just put my head back down.
But its no excuses time. I knew I had enough time to do the strength and core routine (which I mixed up with Saturday, so I’ll fix that today). I ended up doing hip adduction by doing this routine – it really is a core strength workout because you have to balance on the one leg. I didn’t use a chair though! 😀
I also can’t do tricep dips – I am just not that flexible for some reason. So I did tricep kick backs using my 4 pound weighted ball, and then did supermans for core. But there was no time for cardio.
Breakfast was a rerun of the almond pancakes with strawberry syrup, although this time I reduced the amount of coconut milk by half and doubled the strawberries – no new picture because I hit the ground running when I got to work. Just imagine a lot more strawberries!
I still had to do cardio. I went on weather.com and it said it was 40 degrees but felt like 32. I was prepared though! I had a long sleeve shirt, jacket and hat on – I ended up running a 5k, but in 1:3:1 intervals. Walking for 1 minute, jogging for 3 minutes and then sprinting for 1 minute, and repeated until I was done. It felt good not to be so sweaty because it was so chilly!
It almost felt like it could snow! Wouldn’t you know about an hour after I got back from my run, it was all sun and blue skies! I was happy to have finished my run though!
I forgot to bring my camera to work, so no picture of lunch – I ended up taking 3/4 cup of my paleo chili and mixing it with 3 ounces of the banana pepper beef – super filling and delicious!
I talked to Tony in the afternoon and asked him if he had a taste for anything – we decided on chicken wings. I stopped at my local store on the way home, only to find out that they had no fresh wings, only a 4 pound bag of frozen ones – no thanks. On to Plan B! Hooters Shrimp! I altered the recipe by reducing the amount of flour (probably 1/8 cup for all the shrimp – which I know is not Paleo but I read that almond flour doesn’t stick) so I am not going to sweat the 1/16 of a cup of flour on my shrimp. I also dipped the shrimp into egg whites instead of the egg/milk combo.
So this is the last week at WW that I will actually look at my WI. This first week I just wanted to see what the difference was between the WW scale and my Zero Scale. My official Zero Scale WI is on Monday.
I have to say, I am a tad disappointed – I cut out all alcohol, no pop, grains and dairy. I worked out 55 minutes every day but Wednesday. But then I thought, I have upped my strength training, so I am sure that has something to do with it. All I know is I don’t ever want to see a a 16_ on my WW card again. 😀
So here’s to another week of healthy eating – I am working on my menu. Check out this new link to me (thanks Robin for pointing it out to me!). Think of it as a Tastespotting for Paleo – FastPaleo.
What’s going on this weekend with you?? Have a great Saturday! It’s 10:00 and I already went to the gym for my 55 minute workout – woot! Glad tomorrow is a rest day – I had to do lunges today and my quads are on fire. 😀
Congrats on your loss !!!
Hi Biz,
Great job on your weigh in! Make sure you don’t go to low in calories with all your workouts. I’ve been following along to learn about this Paleo diet of yours. This whole year I have been yo-yoing between 162-160 so frustrating! I have been looking at a book called the Flat Belly Diet which is lower in carbs than I currently eat. I hate the idea of being on a “diet” but what I have been doing isn’t working well so something has to change.
Thanks Susan! So far I really haven’t felt deprived at all, and I’ve taken about half the amount of insulin I normally would! 😀
1.6 lbs loss is fantastic!!! You’re totally rocking it!
I think that’s a great loss, Biz!!! You will see that 15- next week!!! 🙂
I think being down over a pound is awesome! Don’t sell yourself short that is a great weight loss.
Congrats on the loss! You had a great week!
Enjoy the rest of your weekend!
Way to go on the weight loss Biz! keep it up!
Buffalo shrimp looks yummy! Way to go with the ‘No excuses’. I have been in that mode since I got back from vacation b/c I definitely felt a couple pounds heavier after I got back, which was annoying since i was very active when I was there and didn’t eat too bad. But, no matter what we have to keep up with the exercise. It’s easy to make excuses, especially when it’s starting to get cold out and darker earlier. Keep up the good work!
You are rocking the workouts!! I need to try the hooters shrimp! I think you did awesome this week- remember, slow steady weight loss stays off!
How can you be disappointed with that Biz? I think it is FABULOUS. If the average weight loss should be two lbs max per week [in a healthy diet] than you are right on track.
Look at the fun side – at least you know now that you weren’t drinking all your weight gain in wine. ::wink:: heehee
Enjoy your weekend – and hopefully snow holds off until after Thanksgiving at least. Hugs my friend.
Well, who knows – maybe your body is just trying to hold onto every last ounce. Don’t give up! Don’t let the 160’s keep you!!!
Hope you have a great weekend.
Oh the buffalo shrimp is such a cool idea! We just did boneless chicken wings last week and I’m already craving them again!!
For the check in, I think I missed last week. I was down 4 pounds. This week I’m down 2. Finally some weight loss! I feel a bit slimmer, which is good. Been sticking to the Slim Fast breakfast and eating a small snack in the afternoon, then a healthy dinner with portion control.
great job getting your workout in anyway. i had a similar morning today, i SO did not want to go to the gym, i had no energy, no desire. but as you said, no more excuses! i’m so glad that i went.
gosh that shrimp looks awesome! i have to try that!
Woo Hoo! Way to go! I’m going to check out this Paleo thang. I’m intrigued!
Hey, 1.6 is a big deal! Great job, Biz, and I know you’ll see a 15_ next week!
Even if the scale doesn’t go down as fast as you want – look at all the good stuff you are doing – and by what you are doing i.e eating better and exercising is going to lengthen your life!! That’s way more important than the number on the scale. I’m proud of you for sticking to it!!!
Those pancakes look delicious. And nice job working out even though it was so cold -that’s always tough!
Congrats on the weigh in Biz! This is the week of the 150s for us. I am so done with the 160s. Oh I pray I don’t eat my words on this one (no pun intended). I have been tracking, running and hydrating. Bye bye 160.
This weekend is looking good. I have a rest day today and a half marathon tomorrow. It is totally last minute and a super hilly course, but it fits perfectly into my marathon training. Bonus my husband, son, best friend and her family will all be there to cheer me on.
Have an awesome weekend!!
Good luck tomorrow Aimee – I know you’ll do great!
