We had such a great weekend. Saturday instead of our normal grocery store day, we decided to have lunch and see Hangover II. My cell phone wasn’t working right – I couldn’t reply to any emails for a while and it was driving me nuts – just so happens the U.S. Cell store was near a bunch of restaurants to choose from.
Believe it or not, Tony and I have never been to Red Robin. But the thought of unlimited fries made me choose Nozumi in South Barrington (in the Arboretum). Tony hadn’t had sushi since before his colon cancer surgery! The first thing that caught my eye on the appetizer menu was calamari fries. I typically don’t like calamari because its usually overcooked and chewy and hard to swallow.
Holy shizz, these were good. It came with a mustard dipping sauce and this vinegary Asian slaw on the side – put all together – it was amazingly delicious – the calamari were tender, the breading was light, and then the mustard/vinegar combo put it over the top. Mara and Angie – next time you are in that area – you have to try this place!
Then I got a package in the mail – I love packages! (that’s what she said!). My friend Shelley sent me a happy summer package – so thoughtful!!
I love this hat – not only the color, but that it fits – most hats are so big on me but this one fits perfect. Can’t wait to use it on my bike ride at lunch – thanks Shelley! 😀
We invited my SIL over for Sunday dinner yesterday. She just started Weight Watchers last week and I thought – I can make lunches for her just like I did my old co-workers! So she is all set – not only with two lunches of leftovers from dinner yesterday, but I also made her an Asian Quinoa salad with grilled chicken, Rocco di Spirito’s chile con carne over spaghetti squash and a giant grilled chicken romaine salad with carrots, cucumbers and strawberries – all she’ll have to do is add diced apple and salad dressing. Go Jody!
So I decided to make kabobs two ways. First was chicken that I marinated in a bottled teryikai sesame sauce. The second was beef that I marinated in 1/4 cup olive oil, 1/4 cup balsamic dressing, 2 tablespoons minced garlic and 2 tablespoons chopped fresh rosemary.
These were just the chicken kabobs. Um, did I tell you that I was only cooking for four people??!!
These were the beef kabobs – I added fingerling potatoes to these kabobs that I parboiled – so good! Look at the mound of food I made!
Tony made his famous fried rice on the side. I’ve seen him do it, I’ve tried to replicate it, but his turns out perfect every time. Thanks Tony, it was delicious! My plate – a beef kabob and Tony’s fried rice, 9 PointsPlus.
It was actually nice to have a Sunday dinner – we ate about 3:30, I think my SIL left around 5:15 and then Hannah and I went on an hour long walk. Even with cleaning up the kitchen it was only 6:30! But Tony and I did get hungry around 9:00 – so I made us half grilled roast beef and swiss sammies and some veggie chips to take the edge off. Tony remarked that probably people who had Sunday dinner at 3:3o usually were in bed by 8!
And I went clothes shopping! In my basement. Yep, there has been a giant black garbage bag full of clothes in the corner of our basement labeled “clothes my Mom can’t fit into yet.” I love Hannah’s positive labeling. 😀
I found a ton of clothes I probably haven’t worn in three years – so there will definitely be a fashion Friday this week!
Did you catch up on the 101 days of summer update? We are strong going into week three. My goal this week is to swim at least twice, run a 5k (outside!) and no wine M-Thurs. I want that damn 10% at WW! 😀
Make it a great Monday! 😀
Just found out they closed the Red Robin near us. Now I want to go there more than ever.
My brother commented!! Hi Charlie! If it weren’t for you, I would have never known Red Robin had unlimited fries!
Those kebobs look so good! And leftovers are hardly ever a bad thing. They’d be so good on a lunch salad or with rice. Yum!
I may have to change my menu to include kebobs tonight. Hehe
wow I need friends like you! I would love a happy summer package =)
I want you to be my caterer, Biz!!! 🙂
I have no doubt the 10% is YOURS this week! Go, Biz!!
The rice looks so yummy – would Tony consider giving up his recipe?
Tony isn’t a recipe cook like me, he’s a throw stuff in a pan and taste as you go! He basically starts out with cold rice and puts it in a cast iron wok (but I guess any cast iron pan would do) that has hot oil in it. His secret is that he lets it sit so it gets crispy on the bottom, and try as I might, I have never been able to recreate it! Sorry! 🙁
Those kebabs sound fantastic!! Yum – I really need to do some grilling this summer!
What a great package! The hat will definitely be perfect for your bike rides!! And what a Sunday meal. Mmm kabobs! Summery food? I think so!! And thats awesome that you’re helping your SIL with her WW meals. I’m not on WW, but if I lived near you…I’d ask you to do my meals too hehe.
I love the feeling of fitting into old clothes. That’s so great! Can’t wait to see them.
I just love kabobs! Yours look delicious! I love adding fruit to them for some sweetness.
How fun, shopping for your own clothes! I cannot wait for Fashion Friday – what about Togs Tuesday? What I Wore Wednesday? LOL
Glad you liked the hat! 🙂
Happy Summer! love that. What a great hat. And you’re making me want to grill kebobs. Right now!
Yummy Yum Yum! You go girl – you’ll get the 10% – good thoughts for you sweetie!
Kev and I definitely want to try Nozumi. Might need to do a double date sometime with you guys. Or a triple date with Mara and her hubby too.
Cute hat!
Your SIL is so lucky!
I snorted out loud with your TWSS reference!
I love that you went “shopping” in your basement! Congrats!
I always make too much food too… but we love leftovers! Can’t wait to see Fashion Friday!
Great food! I would love it if you were my caterer!
Have fun with the basement clothes! It’s fun to wear things you haven’t worn in a while…
Have a great week!
Great goals for this week, I know you’ll do fantastic with all of them! I wish I had you to make me lunches! haha
You’re going to rock your goals this week! Btw, you can come over to my apartment and cater anytime haha!
Go Biz go on that 5k! You should sign up for a race–I know there must be at least one (or probably a few) 4th of July 5ks in your area!
Okay I must be going nuts…..at first I thought the title of your post said I must be a catheter! I love long walks, especially around this time of year. They are the best!
My goal is to work out 5 times this week! I love your challenge. I almost joined it, but with my husband’s travel, figured it would just be more stress on me.
