Wednesday as I was driving home from work, I passed a bank and it said 101 degrees. It was humid, the air was thick and it was definitely hot enough to turn on the central air. Storms came through and the temperature dropped like a bucket. As I was driving to work Thursday morning, the temperature was 51 degrees and it didn’t get much warmer than that. I even pulled up our down comforter last night when I went to bed because I was chilly! I just think its so weird to have a 50 degree difference in temperature in 12 hours.
I had an early work project, so I picked up some McDonald’s oatmeal, although truth be told, my mouth almost said “I’ll have a sausage biscuit with egg.” I love those things, but at 14 points, I knew my 7 point oatmeal was best. Go me!
My work project had me away from the office and I didn’t get back to my desk until 2:00. I was hangry – and unfortunately, there was no time to get a bike ride in – it would have been perfect bike weather too. š Lunch was leftover red beans and rice with a few pieces of smoked sausage and some tortilla chips to dip – 11 PointsPlus.
I had almost forgotten that I had a happy hour planned at my friend Kim’s house. She was one of my WW buddies at my old job that I cooked for. Even now, there are some lunches and I think “my friends would have loved this dish!” She’s the hostest with the mostest – and she had shiraz so I had two glasses of that and about six points of snacks – happy hour was about 13 points. She made this BLT dip that was so good – let me know if you want the recipe – I like that she kept the green onions to a minimum just for me. š
Since I was getting home later, I picked up a pizza for me and Tony for dinner – sausage and pepperoni – my plate is 12 Points (which now that I look at the picture may be on the low side!)
Flashback Friday
I played field hockey in college at Southern Illinois University. I used to hate having home games when the football team was home, because I couldn’t even get my roommates to stay for a whole game. It was the second week in September 1986, I am in a huge lecture class, and in front of me, someone had the Daily Egyptian, which was the school newspaper. He flipped to the back page which was the sports section, and I was shocked to see myself in the paper!
I think I am going to keep this picture on my fridge to remind myself that I am an athlete, even at age 43. š It’s chilly and rainy this morning, but I am hoping to get my bike ride in today at lunch. I didn’t work out two days this week, but I think I did okay with my food so hopefully my WI will be a good one tomorrow. Although I can always tell when I am not hydrated because my wedding ring is tight – need to drink lots of water today!
Stats for Thursday:
- 43 points
- 23 flex points remain, 32 activity points earned so far
- no exercise
- average blood sugar 121
Question of the Day – have you ever been in the newspaper?
Happy Friday – make it a great day!
I was Suzie High School and was in the paper for diving quite a bit. I was also just in the paper for my 4.0! Woohoo!
Share the BLT dip please!
Heck yeah you can be an athlete at 43! How about Dana Torres?
That red beans and rice looks divine, too! Actually all of your food does. Even the Mickie D’s oatmeal š
You ARE an athlete, indeed!! And what a great shot! I always admired the field hockey girls…killer bodies, and as popular as ever when I was at OPRF š Have a great weekend, Biz! Oh, and major kudos on bypassing the sausage biscuit with egg…that’s hard to do!! I’m those babies #1 fan! š
Love the red beans and rice leftovers. That looks delicious!
What a great picture of you from college. How neat! I was never athletic. I think that’s why I enjoy body pump, spin, and hiking..no competition. š
Have a great weekend!
That is a great picture – you ARE an athlete!!!
I was in our college paper a lot, because I wrote for it. š
Sounds like Kansas weather–it changes moment to moment sometimes! We had hail and tornadoes yesterday but thankfully we’re OK. Yes, I so want that BLT dip recipe! Sounds fab. I really love that newspaper pic of you–you look so strong and in great form! Def an inspiring pic. I don’t think I’ve ever been in the paper but I was on the news once when I was fat and they asked me what I thought about some diet pills. I was the only one they asked that was fat, and the only one that was enthusiastic about the pills. LOL!
I haven’t seen that picture in forever!
You forgot to mention when we were in the paper for twins in 8th grade! š
It is nice biking weather though!!!
You always have awesome food! It looks great and I’m sure tastes great too. Wish I could cook like that š Keep it up!
I grew up in a small town, so I actually was in the paper a lot as a child. Two of the times were before I was even in school – one as I sat on a bench in town eating a frozen yogurt, and one as I sat on that same bench eating a giant strawberry. Then there is one of me in the elementary school Halloween costume parade, and some others along that vein. Like I said – small town!
Not only are you an athlete, but you’re also apparently superhuman. Oatmeal over sausage biscuit? Will of steel! š
I don’t think I’ve ever been in the newspaper before, but I did make it on the cover of the pamphlet for resident housing in college! I was pretty excited over that! š
Happy Friday and have a great weekend!
Yes, I was in the newspaper in second grade for winning a reading contest by reading the most books. It was actually some kind of school fundraiser, where you asked people to sponsor you per book. I got a bunch of 10-, 15- and 25-cent-per-book sponsors. I proceeded to read a couple hundred books and didn’t feel the least bit guilty about collecting hefty sums from my parents, grandparents and aunts. The next year, my mom made me read longer books. š
I’m a huge egg mcmuffin fan:)
Biz, I thought of you while I was watching the news at the gym last night–they were talking about how the east coast heat wave is about to break and they were talking about how the temp in Chicago was only 54!!
I played field hockey at Stanford. Right Half–I loved playing it and it kept me nice and trim, all that running around. My pic was on the front page of the Seattle Post-Intelligencer because I was one of an unusually large class of women who were starting law school at the University of Washington. (1978, I think).
That is so cool! š
That dip looks superb – makes me want nachos now. mmmm nachos
My go to breakfast at McDonald’s is a sausage mcmuffin [no egg] hash brown and a coke – don’t know why, but a coke tastes so good with it to me. I wouldn’t dare go near a McD’s now, due to the salt, but a girl can dream. sigh. You were very good to get the oatmeal – you have more willpower then I. Although that oatmeal looks yummy.
It’s been toasty around here too. We didn’t get any storms, though, so it’s still a bit toasty. I like the McDonald’s oatmeal and you can get it without the added brown sugar (probably only saves a point.) When I don’t have time to make my own breakfast I usually get the oatmeal w/ no added sugar plus a fruit n yogurt parfait for a pretty reasonable breakfast.
I’m in New York and it’s only getting hotter. I feel like I’m melting every time I step outside….that pizza looks great! And rice and beans…makes me wanna go back to Nawlinz!
I don’t think I’ve ever been in a newspaper, unless you count bylines, as I’m a journalist š
Whoa! Talk about a temperature change! That is pure craziness! What a busy busy day! Your pictures of the McDonalds oatmeal always look so awesome. I must say…I’m pretty anti-McDonalds (for the most part) but this oatmeal…i feel the need to try it! Glad you had fun at the happy hour and yayyy for Friday!
Yes….we get those massive temp changes here every now and again too! This year, the weather has been just bizarre, hasn’t it? It was HOT the other day…we didn’t get the storms….just clouds and then the thermometer dropped back into the 60’s. Personally, I will take the 100’s…lol I know, crazy. But after what was essentially 9 months of winter…I will take summer any way I can get it…because we all know that come Oct….that will be IT! lol
Good luck with the WI !!! I didn’t get a chance to go to my WW meeting ( legit excuse this week)….so I am looking forward to next week….even with all the eating I did in NYC…all the walking seemed to even it all out!
Isn’t the weather crazy!! It’s been so cold! After hitting 102. So weird. I would have a really, really hard time going through the McD’s drivethru, I don’t know WHAT would come out of my mouth!
Yes, please, I would love the BLT dip for our Yappy Hour/PAW.ty for Maggie’s 1st Birthday next week!
I love that you called it Yappy Hour! It was very chatty! š I have asked for the recipe and will hopefully post it tomorrow – it was really good!
It took a MASSIVE thunderstorm to clear the heat out of here, but it’s not that cool.! Unfortunately there are tons of people without power, all sorts of downed poles and lines and some schools have even had to close due to the lack of power or the inability to get the kids to the school. Crazy.
You ARE athletic Biz! Maybe it’s different at 43 than 23 but it’s there!
