But seriously – that’s a good thing! Okay, I am not going to go into too much detail here (Tony is probably covering his eyes at this point!). Let’s just say that sometimes after I eat stuff, within a half hour, um, I need a restroom. I’ve never really taken the time to figure out what causes it – I just assumed its when I eat shit I shouldn’t. And it’s not all the time, but pretty frequent.
Believe me my family knows that I know where every public bathroom is – even the giant key they give you at Tuesday Morning! 😀 But since I’ve been doing South Beach this week . . . I have had no problems! It makes me think – maybe I have a gluten intolerance? All I know is that I feel great – lucky me! 😀
Breakfast may not look like much, but it was good – 2 ounces reduced fat sausage, 2 eggs, 1 shredded zucchini and cheddar cheese. It was meant to be a frittata, but I grabbed the wrong pan so it stuck, so it became a hash! I had 1/2 cup of Tabasco cottage cheese on the side. Breakfast comes in at 453 calories, 9.6 carbs, 33 protein, 32 fat and 1.4 fiber.
I went to the gym with the intention of doing a bike ride, but there was a PT group on the bikes (there are only three) so I decided to do a treadmill workout. While Meghann hates the treadmill, I don’t mind doing a mix on the treadmill (and maybe watching FoodTV at the same time doesn’t hurt!).
I did a 5 minute warm up, then for every five minutes, I started at 3.5 mph for 3 minutes, then 4.5 for one minute, then 5.5 mph for 1 minute, then back down to 3.5 and repeated 5 times. I was sweaty by the end (and can never take a decent picture of me at the gym!)
When I got back to the office, I had my delivery from my friends Partylite party I went to a couple weeks ago – I think I may be the only person who bought food items instead of candles! I got a buffalo powder that you can add to mac n cheese, our burgers to kick up a notch. I also got a couple mustards – one jalapeno one and this one, which I can’t wait to try!
So my lunch? Holy shizz was it delicious! I was kind of nervous because I have never had acorn squash by itself, I’ve made an acorn squash bisque before, which is delicious!
I cut the squash in half, took out the seeds and microwaved it for 12 minutes. Then I just stuck it in the fridge. At lunch, I put it in the microwave for 1 minute, then heated up a serving of my pork and black bean chili separately. I turned our work toaster oven to broil, set the temp at 400 and then split the chili between the two acorn halves, topped with 1/2 ounce of mozzarella cheese and broiled it until the cheese was browned.
I topped with diced tomato, cilantro, avocado and a little bit of sour cream. This was so delicious!!!!! I loved the slightly sweet squash against the spicy chili, which I of course doctored up from the original recipe with Tabasco.
I am entering this for Christina’s Friday Firsts!
I still had more leftover beef sirloin roast – I’ve gotten a lot of dishes out of that one roast! I made a stir fry assembly line – I just have to show what a messy cook I am – if Hannah were home each ingredient would be in matching bowls, counter clean of anything that isn’t absolutely necessary.
We did his and hers – Tony likes just soy sauce and a little classic stir fry sauce – I didn’t have the wok hot enough the first time around though – he had to take everything out and make it hotter – look at his stir fry skillz:
While my go to stir fry sauce of House of Tsang Szechuan sauce, I tried a new one that I picked up at, of all places, Tuesday Morning. It was on their discount rack a month ago – this cost $1.90!
My bowl: 2 cups of veggies, 3 ounces of shrimp, 3 ounces of sirloin roast and 1/2 an ounce of diced hazelnuts on top.
This took me about 1/2 hour to eat, and even then I could only eat about 3/4 of it. Dinner comes in at 317 calories, 14 carbs, 46 protein, 7.2 fat and 4 fiber.
Hot 100 Update:
I am not going to do my Weigh in Until Monday, but as you can tell based on the title of my post, I feel wonderful. I’ve averaged around 1300 calories a day for the week – I’ve done a minimum of 45 minutes of exercise each day, sometimes up to 80 minutes. I am not hungry in between meals and . . .I haven’t had any alcohol (not even a sip of wine!) all week! 😀
Stats for Thursday:
- 1248 calories, 75 carbs, 121 protein, 52 fat and 22 fiber
- 37% of calories from fat
- 40 minute treadmill walk, jog, sprint
- 15 minute walk with the dog
Could you vote for me?? Katie at Chaos in the Kitchen is teaming up with Fresh Express to come up with a salad idea using one of the bagged salads. The kick was that you didn’t even have to make the salad recipe, just give her an idea. My idea was based on an appetizer at a restaurant I worked at: Baked Goat Cheese over Garlic crostini on a bed of proscuitto with a balsamic glaze. OMG, that appetizer was so good – the servers used to get so pissed when I ordered that for my dinner when I could have gotten a 24 ounce New York Strip! Check out my recipe here and vote for me if you have time! 😀
And don’t forget, you have until Sunday to get my your BSI entries – Chiles! Has anyone been wanting to host BSI? If so, shoot me an email at mybizzykitchen@gmail.com.
Make it a Great Day! (sorry Steve, just realized I stole your tag line!)
I have some “issues” too. I’m glad you’ve found a solution with the South Beach Diet. Feeling great is always worth giving up some things.
I’ll totally vote for you!
Your food all looks amazing! I’m so impressed with the lunch you made at work. You’re totally inspiring me. I’m starting low carbs tomorrow. It’s the only way for me to break my cycle of sugar and bread.
I just tried to vote for you but it was closed and I saw that you won.. Congratulations!
I love your after workout sweaty photo too!
No problem with stealing the tag line – I’ll loan it out at any time. 🙂
I am loving all your SBD food. You are going to give Kayla a run for her money.
Oh, I don’t think you are alone in your restroom revelation.
Congrats on your 6.2 and good luck with your weight loss journey – you can do it and we’re all here to support you!! Your stuffed acorn squash looks so yummy, I can’t get enough of the stuff 🙂
I made that frittatta! Was it from kayln’s kitchen? Mine stuck too..but it was yummy. 🙂
as always, LOVE all the pics!
Yep – I modified it a bit, she her recipe was the inspiration – I think we both need to get better pans! 😀
What a good week:) Makes me want to get serious and commit to some SBD time. I did a week of PH1 not long ago when my husband was out of town and felt great. Funny that you posted about “you know what” today. At the gym my trainer and I were talking about the people in our lives with sensitive systems. My son reacts to certain foods and we have never been able to figure out what. Sigh.
Sounds like the new diet is working out very well for you. Your food always looks so delicious! I’d like to try the Raspberry Mustard, it sounds so good!
I just voted… no shit
Okay Dave – that made me laugh out loud!
Oooo, your food is so beautifully colorful! Love it!
I went from normal to no…er…stuff when I changed my way of eating, which led me to up my fiber quite a lot. Even though for most people, metformin has the opposite effect, I kind of suspect it as having a role. Or maybe it’s the yogurt, some people get that “effect” from it.
biz i’ve missed you!! thanks for the nice comments checking in on me! great job doing south beach, you make that diet look good! i love the acorn squash idea.
I’ve missed you too Teresa – thanks for commenting so I know you are doing fine 😀
What a nice bonus you are getting from your South Beach diet! You have the best looking food for the first week on SB! Love that stir fry and it clocked in with such great nutritional stats.
You get my vote!
Thanks for voting for me Tami! 😀
You could probably take a picture of dirt and it would look awesome LOL! You are really making me consider trying South Beach!!
Jen
I thought going a lot was good for you?
Anyways, your stirfries look soooooooo good! my mouth is watering.
So glad to hear your tummy issues are easing up! I totally know how that goes so- rock on 😉 Breakfast healthy hash? I love the idea. And any version of stuffed squash is ok with me. I will totally vote for you! And I hope you go tmy BSI entry 🙂 🙂
I got it! 😀
LOL…I am imagining Tony trying to read through your blog with his hand over his eyes.
Way to rock your first South Beach week! So glad it’s been easy and working for you! Even though I don’t officially do the SB, I still try to keep my carbs to a minimum. Some of us don’t process carbs very well.
I voted for your salad! It sounds so yummy!
Thanks for voting Jenn! 😀
Buffalo powder as in the powdered animal or like hot sauce powdered buffalo? Trying to wrap my head around that one LOL!
Ha!! It’s Brazen Buffalo Blue Cheese Seasoning Blend 😀
Oh my gosh that is hilarious! I almost spit my water out!
Excellent on sticking with it! Good for you!
I had many of the same issues way back when. I think it was just all the crud I was eating, we were eating out WAY too much and not paying attention to diet at all. So I lost 100 lbs. and started cooking and problem resolved.
It could be some kind of dairy allergy too, Biz. Johnny can’t eat a lot of pre-packaged baked goods b/c of whey. And I know dairy-free ppl that can’t eat a lot of breads and stuff b/c of hidden dairy in the ingredients! But J is fine w/ most cheeses and milk oddly – like you!
Your squash looks so pretty cut in half that way!! I usually cut mine in half length-wise so I don’t get those pretty scalloped edges. I really like the presentation it gives – it’s the small things, right? Thanks for sharing these with Friday Firsts and for the shout out! 🙂
I voted for your salad – it sounds delicious!
Thanks Christina! 😀
I always think of you when I wander down the food aisle at TJ MAXX or HomeGoods! I love all of the sauces they carry!
The problem you have…well that WAS me. I had my gallbladder removed at 17 and I would always need to stop at home or the nearest bathroom after I ate. My Mom and I have a joke about a Krispy Kreme that has gone out of business…maybe because of my bathroom use. lol Anyway I do not have the old problems because of the fast foods or high fat foods I no longer eat. My tummy appreciates it! 🙂
MMM…that stir fry looks awesome.
Have you mentioned your “other” issue to your doctor? I know someone who has had similar problems. But she’s better now, and I don’t remember what she changed.
Knowing your excellent and snarky humore, the minute I saw your title I knew where we was headin’! You crack me up, and I have to say I have similar issues to your pre-SB ones, so maybe it’s time to think about that. The food all looks great as always. I loved you turned lemons to lemonade – er, frittata to hash. You are a clever gal. And…I think we have the same camera! At least they’re the same color. Way to rock the Hot 100 with your calories this week. Methinks you’ll be seeing less of yourself at the Monday WI.
I love the food racks at TJ Maxx and Marshalls – can get some good scores there!
I would recommend seeing a dr. to get allergy/intolerance testing done – maybe it’s something weird?!
Can I submit a chili recipe with cayenne powder in it or is that cheating?!
Nope, that’s not cheating – any type of chili powder/cayenne powder will count! 😀
So glad doing the South Beach diet is working for you! Congrats on your ac1 number. Can’t wait to see your weight loss results I bet they will be great! Taking it easy this week since I was so sick last week will get back to “normal” workouts next week I think. Have a great Friday.
Poor Tony. Just look away from the blog today Tony, it will be OK!
I will be absolutely SHOCKED if you don’t have a great weigh-in what with keeping your calories that low AND no alcohol. I sure hope so because you deserve it!
Calorie for calorie a good old stir fry has got to be one of the best options, especially for South Beach. Your looks delish. Have a great weekend!
Laughing at “no shit.” I, too, raid the discount food aisle at Tuesday Morning. They always have the greatest selection of sauces and mustards! Your lunch looks so pretty!
Biz-I was right there with you on the “problem”. Please don’t just give up gluten without seeing a doctor. I almost did and it would have been a huge mistake–since I’m soy, not gluten intolerant. A doctor can help you and do tests–mine has made my life about a million times better!
I have to say, you have the tastiest looking south beach stuff ever! but it could be because it looks like my diet!
well, my diet minus the baked goods. but i don’t really eat much of those!
