I haven’t looked at the forecast for today, but we were supposed to get 8-12 inches of snow overnight – we maybe got two?
After making pancakes for breakfast yesterday, I baked up the rest of the whole grain artisan bread from last week – although I put garlic seasoning on the top of these two loaves.
Before going grocery shopping yesterday, Tony and I went to grab a bite – funny, neither of us got wings!
I ended up getting their grilled chicken tacos – I ate one whole taco, then just ate the inside of the second one – and had about 10 chips.
Our grocery store has a lot of weird things – you can get two salmon fish heads for only $1.94!
I menu plan based on our sale paper – they had baby back ribs for only $2.99 a pound, so I couldn’t pass that up! It kind of tasted like summer in winter! I ended up making this dry rub, but using K.C. Masterpiece for the bbq sauce.
I baked the ribs low and slow – about 2 1/2 hours at 275 – then put the bbq sauce on and put them under the broiler.
As I was cleaning up the kitchen, I started to sweat, so I checked my blood sugar and it was 48! I guess I overestimated on the carbs for dinner and gave myself too much insulin. This did the trick!
Can I just say how happy I am that I don’t have to use the snow blower to get to work this morning??!! Hope you have a great day! 😀
2 bucks is overcharging for fish heads IMHO. Who would actually pay for them, even for fish stock?
I’ve learned never to trust the weather. I have a feeling they tell you the absolute worst it could be so then you will be pleasantly surprised.
Those fish heads are hysterical!
The fish heads make the greatest fish broth. You can use as a base for alot of fish related recipes. Wish I could find them down here.
I knew you would know! Thanks Bonnie!
I love the buffalitos at Bw’s. I haven’t been there in a long time though and I don’t know if they still have them?
Those ribs look outstanding!
Where I’m at in Northern Michigan we usually get DUMPED on but this year we’ve been so lucky and everywhere but us has been getting all the snow. It seems really weird that we’ve made it through pretty much the whole winter with my son only have 3 snow days when usually by now we are well into so many snow days they have lots to make up at the end of the school year!
The salmon heads made me wanna gag. EEEEEW! That’s weird alright!
The ribs made me drool! Oh my gosh those looked so yummy!
I love Buffalo Wild Wings but haven’t ate there since starting my healthy eating/losing weight journey.
Thanks for stopping by my blog earlier today! All your meals here look great! Those fish heads are very interesting….glad you went with the ribs!
Yum yum, I love Buffalo Wild Wings! If I don’t feel like wings I get their Naked Tenders and get their spicy garlic sauce for dipping.
The bread and ribs look amazing.
Chocolate Chip Pecan Cookies for a 48, I am jealous of that—the cookie not the 48, you just have to be careful at 48 that you grab the cookie rather than the fish head.
really enjoyed my visit—Thank You
Those ribs and chips look delish!
Tony looks too funny in that pic…I hear the mcdonalds filet o fish commercial playing in my head lol
I’m just starting to explore artisan breads. Yours certainly looks yummy. Maybe I could just send you my ingredients? 🙂
Love the fish photo! 🙂
Hi Biz – Thank you so much for visiting my blog and commenting on it. I’ve read yours for quite awhile, but didn’t think you’d have occasion to find mine. I love your recipes and your positive attitude. I’ve been borderline type 2 for a few years, but for the last year my A1C has been less than 6, thanks to losing 25 lbs and exercising. I’ve been pretty off track lately though with having one bad knee and now the other – effectively keeping me down for the count.
And wow – a blood sugar of 48 makes this nurse very nervous!
Thanks again – love your blog.
You are so sweet! Thanks Leslie! 😀
what the devil could you do with fish heads? stock maybe? interesting! i love those ribs, and yay for no more snow!
the pic below of you and your twin is so cute!
oh gross – fish heads freak me out! Great price though!! haha I would totally get those tacos over wings – they look awesome!
ah my mom loves fish heads but i could never bring myself to eat them. apparently the “cheeks” are amazing.
I love buffalo wild wings!! They have a good variety and even have some healthy options.
That cookie is making me drool… seriously!!
Great idea to menu plan based on the sales. Those ribs look amazing – i’ve never made them at home but they look delicious 🙂
You guys are lucky you missed out on the snow! It started snowing sometime late last night and hasn’t stopped – AND I still had class (but didn’t go).
Ours was reduced to 3-6″ and I think we got 4 or 5″ (I can never really tell so I judge based on what is sitting cleanly on top of the patio table!) I’m SO READY FOR SUMMER!!!
I think the fish heads are probably for stock, right?? At least that’s good that they try and sell them for somebody to get something useful out of, instead of throwing them away!!
Your bread looks beautiful as always! We just had BWW for the first time last month and I loved their chili cheese dip stuff w/ the chips. SO GOOD. Then me and J tried to order it to go last week and they made it wrong and forgot the chili. We called, but at that point it’s not worth it to let the rest of the food get cold and go back.
Glad you didn’t get clobered with the darn snow again. I think everyone stateside is hoping this snow ends. We get bad rain here but now snow. We are OK here, but there was flooding on some islands south of us, way south, but part of the same country.
I meant “fishies”…
Poor fishes….I just want the body – not your head! 😉
Our weatherman messed up, too – it’s raining here! = free car wash.
Mmm chocolate chip cookie. Garlic on top (or inside!) of bread is delicious.
I wonder what people would cook with the fish heads? My dad is working and living in Cambodia and he says one of the regular meals he has on the road is fish soup. There’s an entire fish floating around in the soup, broken up into different parts! So he just eats around the fish and only has the broth, hehe.
ewww about those fish heads!
I also go to an asian grocer – and they sell the weirdest stuff! i have to admit though that they offer the best deals in terms of fresh produce!
Ack, now I have that fish heads song replaying over and over in my head!!! Love that Tony poses for you, though!
Your snow may have missed you but apparently it’s coming here tomorrow evening – wth?!?
yes, so happy the snow is finally letting up. let’s hope it stays that way now!

WTF is up with those fish heads? Gross! I never get wings when we go to BWW either! Funny!
I guess there’s some solace to be found in knowing that some people waste NO part of the fish. Personally, I don’t like when my food can look at me though.
The bread with garlic seasoning looks wonderful and I would love to try those ribs, yum
I love Buffalo Wild Wings! They always have some healthy options, too. Your bread looks delish!
So tell me that you did not actually buy those salmon fish heads!
No way!! I wouldn’t even give those to my dog! 😀
We didn’t get much either, maybe 3 inches? Nice!
Your ribs look great, Marky would love those!
I need to start menu planning based on the sales…I’m terrible at that. I’m glad you didn’t have as much snow as predicted!
