Congratulations Liz! E-mail me at bdl319@gmail.com with your address – the food scale will be sent directly from the manufacturer, the rest I’ll mail to you! 😀
Hannah and I had such a good time yesterday – except for one thing. The restaurant we wanted to go to? It went out of business! Yep, just a few short weeks ago Tony and I were there as they were one of the restaurants that did the chili cook off. We were almost there when Tony called and said that his son Joe, who works right next door, said they went out of business!
We drove up and there was just this piece of paper that said closed!
So it was on to Plan B!
Not exactly what we were looking for, but it was decent. Except for the chock full of onions in all the dishes!
Then it was on to the thrift store!! We probably spent about an hour and a half here – I spent $27 dollars and got 4 pairs of pants, 5 shirts, and 5 books. 😀
I used to be such an avid reader growing up, and I don’t read nearly enough as I should – except maybe for magazines! 😀
There is also an extensive record album selection – is it sad that most likely half of my readers have never even owned a record album?
After the thrift store, we went to Wal-Mart, where I had a coupon for this:
I am so low maintenance! Hannah begs me almost on a daily basis to wax my eyebrows. Problem is, I have really sensitive skin. When I get my eyebrows waxed it looks as if someone has punched me in the face! But my coupon was for $5 and I couldn’t pass it up! I am not going to lie, this did hurt a bit, but seriously, she was done in about 2 minutes! And while it was all red at the time, by the time I was getting ready for bed, it was almost all gone.
It’s so weird how they do it!

On that note, it is time for me to get ready for work! It was nice having a three day weekend too! 😀
Anybody know what’s going to happen to Biggest Loser during the Olympics?
Thanks a lotI really enjoyed reading this. It makes me want to start my own weblog! Just what subject though? I am a dentist by trade but cannot imagine most people wishing to read about dentistry? Maybe I am wrong! Restaurant in Ilfracombe
I have a whole big box of record albums but haven’t had a turn table in decades.
I think once my injury heals I’m going to check out threading. I hate having my brows waxed which is why they look like they do. 😉
That isn’t the best fortune… haha! I love thrift stores and used book stores!!
I don’t like Panda! I’d never had it before moving here and J took me once and another time his sister got it. Ick! Never again! We got chinese last week and Johnny’s fortune was “You will meet a special someone at your next event.” haha I acted fake-jealous. Such an odd fortune!
Jealous of the thrift store! I need to go, but unfortunately they keep closing left and right down here. I used to have 5 or 6 I visited and now it’s down to 2 and one moved further away to an obscure area, I guess for cheaper rent? Damn economy!
Eyebrow threading looks cool! I saw it on TV but have never tried. All the places I see are in the mall and I’m not about to plop down in a chair in the middle of the freaking mall to have my eyebrows done! Plus, I’m a pretty mean plucker! haha
i went to Panda around Christmas and had the worst lunch ever. The food was greasy, and the veggies over cooked. And I ordered from the low cal menu! AND, no fortune cookie. Not my lucky day!!
I love going to thrift shops and garage and estate sales……..just makes me happy to browse, and find that great deal!
I love how Panda has 5 or 6 options that are all under 240 or less. Last time i went i got mixed veggies instead of noodles or rice. What’s with the wacky fourtunes. Mine said i would prosper in the entertainment industry. Ok, sound good to me.
I’m watching biggest loser right now on Hulu. I love the Olympics i wish they were on hulu.
Mom said BL isn’t on 🙁
Congrats to the winner! She is one lucky ducky!
Made your Buffalo Chicken Chili tonight! mmm!
I’ve had my eyebrows done like that, it is cool. They are doing it in our mall now, right there in the middle fo everyone to see. Everytime I walk by, I close my mouth for fear of someones eye brow hair flying in my mouth!!!
i think you need to start working on those wacky inventions, lol! bummer about your restaurant!
i’ve always wanted to try threading, maybe next time i go to the mall!
Sounds like a great day!! My type of fun!! Love the album covers, Thanks for stopping by my blog. I loved the treat story!! I am still laughing. I bet the kids were so excited. Thanks again!!
I’ve had my eyebrows waxed but never threaded. I wonder if it works better? I don’t mind the redness for a few hours if it’s worth it 🙂
That fortune is very odd… but at least the food was good!
J wants you to know that we may be young, but he has a sizeable vinyl collection, although no Denver.
Yeah I would have avoided those onions too. I need them cooked more. I think some fast food joints are going under around here. I haven’t been in one yet this year!
congrats to the winner… and I hope that wasn’t a crack about Travolta or Denver… I have the greatest hits CD and I try hard to dance like John
Someday some kids will make fun of your heroes, teh Backstreet Boys
I have never been to Panda express. I have seen it though.
I have a very very sensitive skin and can’t wax my eyebrows.. I thread instead… some people think it hurt but I prefer it to waxing.. plus it is better for the skin.
Aww, I hate when restaurants go out of business 🙁 The Panda Express looks yummy though!
Jenn
I love eyebrow threading! Much less redness than with waxing, although slightly more painful in my opinion. Unfortunately I don’t have a place nearby that does it.
My dad loves John Denver so I grew up listening to him a lot 🙂 I hated it growing up, but now as an adult, I love listening to his music because it reminds me of my childhood 🙂
I was a little surprised to realize how well-represented John Denver is on my iPod.
Love me some Panda Express! Sorry the restaurant closed though.
As for threading, I have never seen that. Sounds cool. Been getting my eyebrows waxed by the same lady for so long now but I would be willing to give it a shot. Maybe I’ll see if they can add it to my nail shop.
We went out for chinese yesterday too and my daughter was obsessed with reading all three of our fortunes over and over again, she sounded like one of those fortune tellers, so funny!
You crack me up with the frickin’ onion thing.
Congrats to liz!!!!!
LOL @ your fortune!
Booooo – I’m going to miss the Biggest Loser. 🙁
I still have my vinyl, but I haven’t played them in years! Laughing at John Denver – makes me flash back to 7th grade! My first 45 was Paul McCartney “Live and Let Die”. Too funny. I remember haunting the record shop in town as a teenager and taking it all way too seriously.
Yeah, no BL, until after the Olympics!
Congrats to your winner!!! Lucky Duck!!!!
I had that John Denver album! And John Travolta…didn’t he sing that song “Let Her In”? Ahhh, memories!
Glad you had so much fun – crazy about that restaurant closing so soon after you had been there, but I hear that restaurants are hard to sustain in this economy. I wonder if you can order a menu item at Panda w/o certain things (you onion hater, you!). The green beans and chicken looked great!
P.S. I sent you an email yesterday – did you see it?
Sorry to hear about your lunch outing having to change. Can I just say I love to thrift store shop!!! SO fun! I have records that were my grandparents. I wish I could find a record player to play them on! My hubby has a few from the 70’s and 80’s. The smaller records!
And I just read on one of your comments that Biggest Loser is on hiatus untill the Olympics are over. WHAT!!!! I mean come on, we have 3 chanels that are affiliats of NBC. Can’t they just put it on one of those!!!???? I like watching the Olympics, for maybe a few hours during the whole tiem that it is going on, but I still want to see the shows I am used to watching!!!
I’m not sure about biggest loser, but I LOVE panda express!
Biggest Loser is on haitus until the Olympics are over.
Threading for $7–that’s cheaper than I pay for brow waxing at SuperCuts! I’ll definitely have to try that–especially if it means no more red eyes! I also get super pink and I used to break out until the aestician (sp?) recommended we use aloe instead of whatever oil or lotion they were using.
And I definitely have a mini album collection: Cyndi Lauper’s She So Unusual was my first, but I stole Michael Jackson’s Thriller from the family collection as well—the Michael Jackson centerfold with him in the white suit and with a tiger! Priceless!
When I get my eyebrows waxed, I get SO red. I try to do it on sunny days so I don’t look weird wearing sunglasses for a few hours..
Now that’s a funny fortune! We still have our album collection! Those who missed out on albums have no idea,do they?!
