Thank God my husband is handy, because I really have relied on him over the years to fix things, because that’s what he does! And he’s good at it. I got a call from Hannah while I was at work, right when my boss and I were filing documents online for a deadline! I called Tony, who was also on a business call. I told Hannah we’d get there when we could. And as I was sitting there, I felt bad because I really do rely on my husband too much for mechanical things. What if it were just me and Hannah? We’d have to muddle through somehow!
So while my I am waiting, after work hours, to finish what I had to do, I quickly did a YouTube search on how to change a tire. isn’t it sad that a 41 year old woman doesn’t know how to do that!
But the kicker is that when I got my driver’s license, my Dad made me not change one tire BUT ALL FOUR to make sure I got the hang of it! Well, that was a long time ago.
Luckily Tony knew better and met us to help us out – so while we did the manual labor, it was through Tony’s guidance that got us through!
Thank you Tony for coming to the rescue. . . Again! Um, not sure you can tell but Hannah is volunteering at a local thrift store – 50% discount for families and she gets first dibs on what comes through the door! I believe I raised my daughter right! 😀
So breakfast was another Non-Biz one. I had cooked quinoa, so I made this:
- 1/2 cup cooked quinoa
- 3 ounces diced apple
- 1 ounce unsweetened apple sauce
- .25 ounce chopped walnut
- 4 ounces of cottage cheese
- with Tabasco! 😀
Lunch was an old family favorite – Chicken Brunswick Stew. I’ll have to post the recipe later, I thought I already had!
So dinner was a bit hectic, as we got home late after fixing Hannah’s tire. I had thawed some chicken legs, so the easiest thing to do was to fry them up. I sautéed some green beans and heated up some quinoa for my side. The is no breading – just salt and pepper on the outside.
My plate:
And Hannah ate the last of our good hotdogs, and since the fryer was on, and she’d only had like 12 points going into dinner, I fried it up – she gave Tony and I each a slice and it was pretty damn good! I gave it hatch marks because I wasn’t sure if it would explode otherwise!
Not pictured today was an ounce of pretzels and about 10 almonds.

And it’s Weigh-in Wednesday for my food pantry challenge. I started out at 167.6 – last week I was 166.2 and today I was 165.1 – for a total food pantry donation of 2.5 pounds! My goal was a pound a week, so I am pretty close to meeting my goal of donating 7 pounds of food to my local pantry! 😀
Two more days til the weekend is going to be my mantra! See you all tomorrow night! 😀
Everything looks so delicious!
Sounds like Hannah has a sweet job going on!
Fried hot dog?! Interesting!
I can’t change a tire either…glad it all went well! And yum on the food.
Quinoa is so good for you, one of my go-to meals recently. I thought you put the Tabasco on the quinoa at first… seems like a good idea! Then again, Tabasco seems like a good idea on anything.
Congrats on your weight loss!
Hannah’s job sounds awesome! I love thrift stores 🙂
So sweet that Tony can always help – I’m the tool/fixer person now and it kinda stinks. I want my dad to help me!
Congrats on the weight loss 🙂 And Happy Thursday!
Great job on the weight loss – I’m very impressed!!!
Car problems – what a pain! I am chuckling at your dad making you change all four tires – but I’ll bet if I had to do that, by the last one I would know what I’m doing! And get a good upper body workout in as well! Hmmm, something to think about – we may have our next family activity planned!
Oh, and I WANT that hotdog!!!
I keep telling dh that I need to learn all aspects of the tire change. Why wait for AAA if I can do it myself?
I love the food pantry challenge! What a terrific idea.
Congrats on your loss!

Your dad was hard core. All four tires? Wow!
Sadly, I’ve been in that position and, although I knew what to do, I couldn’t get the lug nuts to come loose. I was even standing on the wrench handle at one point. They had been put on with the air pressured thing during a recent tire rotation, and my measly arm (and foot) power was no match. It was frustrating. A very nice farmer man stopped and helped me. Thankfully, most people in Arkansas are quite neighborly. 🙂
Now, I have AAA for such things. 🙂 Hee hee.
I’d be screwed if I had to change a tire! I don’t know the first thing about cars!! Glad you had a manly man who could help guide you guys to get it done 😉
I read somewhere that most men are just wired that way – they want to fix things. Isn’t it great?!?!? I, too, wonder what life would be like w/o my husband around to fix everything that breaks around here. BTW, your food pics make me drool.
Those wings look like perfection. Also, so cool that Hannah is working at the thrift store, and gets first dips at the clothes!! What a great idea for a job. I bet it’s fun too, and she gets to meet a lot of different people!
The quinoa looks excellent. I know what you mean about having a handy husband. I don’t know what I would do without mine. In fact, I wonder what I did all those years before I met him!
Oh poor Hannah between the battery and the tire! I’ve always bought used cars, so they come with a bit more “fix-ups” than an off-the-lot car. Thankfully I noticed stuff would break all at once and then be fine, so let’s hope her streak is over!!!
Still haven’t had cottage cheese with Tabasco! Looks soooo good! 🙂
Thank god for tony!
Amen! I love your Dad so much! 😀
Darn right!
