I don’t know what I was smoking when I picked this package up – I had a recollection that these were low cal AND low fat!
So what I thought was going to be a low cal lunch turned out to be:
- 512 calories
- 20 fat
- 40 protein
- 43 carbs (!)
- 12 fiber
I always forget how many carbs are in spaghetti squash – so low in calories though – my 10 ounce cooked serving is only 77 calories!
I diced up an ounce of smoked mozzarella and tossed that in the pan to melt while everything heated up. And no matter how I try, I can never really make spaghetti squash look appetizing in a photo!
I am on the fence with the Tofurky – I think next time I’ll try it in a low carb wrap and see how that tastes – I still have 3 more to go!
Looking forward to tonight – its date night with Tony!  We are going to www.ruthschris.com.  One just opened up about 15 minutes from our house. They have a summer special, for $39.95 you get four courses.Â
Of course, one thing anyone who knows me knows that I HAVE to check out the menu before we go and pretty much have my mind up before even entering the restaurant – the only thing that will sway me is if there is an amazing special.Â
If they don’t have a menu online, I’ve even been known to have them fax me a menu to look at! 😀
So if it goes to plan, this is what I am having:
- tomato soup with crab bisque
- 6 ounce filet mignon with grilled shrimp
- green beans with fresh garlic
- fresh berries with whipped cream
I was asking Tony, what do you think you’ll get? His response: “how about I wait til we get there and look at the menu then!”Â
What would you order?Â
Lunch break is over – see you late tonight!
So true….I would rather have the real deal for the same numbers.
UM couldn’t look at the whole menu (hello amazing!!!) but I saw a glimpse of crab-stuffed mushroom appetizers!! Have fun can’t wait to see the goods!
Have a great time on your date… what a deal! That is really cheap for that place. As for the high carbs in the to spaghetti squash, you should try the Tofu Shirataki Noodles. They are low in calories (40 for the whole bag) and low in carbs. Tastes the same, just a little chewy.

Mmm, but the Tofurky Spaghetti Squash looks quite tasty with all that melty cheese 😀
Hmmm I would probably get fresh seafood or the vegetarian option. I’m not a huge fan of steak.
Biz, I use Windows Live Writer to get my pictures that way–it was the first time I tried it. I love it, makes blogging a lot easier!
Thanks Maria – I’ll have to check that out this weekend 😀
Two things I am dying to try: spaghetti squash and Tofurkey!
As for Ruth’s Chris: I would definitely go with steak and shrimp like you! Although, the steak and lobster on the homepage look pretty amazing! Don’t think you can go wrong 😉
I’ve never tried tofurkey’s sausages but that seems like a huge calorie count for one! Are the big?
I love previewing menus too! I like seeing what the restaurant has to offer!
K – they are about the same size as a regular Italian sausage – still on the fence though!
I totally agree with you! No matter what you do – spaghetti squash looks NASTY (but is tasty tasty!) 🙂
I’ve always seen Ruth’s Chris restaurants on vacation but never eaten at one. I’d get the Sliced Tomato and Onions for a started and the personalized potato and vegetable selection for my entree and definitely the berries for dessert. Yum! Can I go with you?
How do you cook your spaghetti squash?
I poke holes in it and microwave for about 8 minutes. I usually let it sit in my microwave overnight then cut and remove the seeds in the morning.
Turns out I am the only one who likes spaghetti squash, so its usually in only my lunches! 😀
Do the filet!! You know you want to 🙂
Way to look at the menu ahead of time. That’s an RD “trick” I always use with my clients.
