Mmmmmm. I am still licking my lips from dinner! When Tony was at the store, by our local grocery stores meat counter, they have proscuitto ends, and once he saw that, he knew he would base the pasta sauce around that.
This particular grocery store (if I have any regular readers) also offers the $1 rack – Tony bought a bunch of red peppers!
So the base of the sauce is olive oil and garlic. He then added two cans of roma tomatoes, and the chopped pepper, and because he loves me desperately, he then used the stick blender to make a smooth sauce. He then flavored the sauce with Italian seasoning, salt and pepper, then added the chopped proscuitto at the end while it simmered. The sauce was so rich and flavorful!
Then on the grill he did Italian sausage that I diced up after it was cooked:
The pasta he chose tonight:
It took exactly 12 minutes for al dente:

Thank you Tony – dinner was delicious!
So if any you have read the “The Second Person” page on the top of my blog before, you’ll know that Tony and I met on the internet. In the beginning it was phone calls and emails before we met. At the time we met I was at my all-time lowest weight as an adult – 137 pounds, down from 209 pounds the year before. I do think its true that you won’t “attract” love until you love yourself! In any event, Kashi products were my go to in my weight loss (before I was diabetic). Kashi Good Friends was my staple, except I would add about 1/2 cup Lucky Charms to each bowl with soy milk to kick it up a notch! 😀
Tony, being the ever dutiful new boyfriend, was on a mission to find Kashi products to have at his house when I visited. Exactly 9 years ago today, this is the e-mail attachment he sent me:
If you ask me, it was love at first sight. I actually remember every detail of the first night we met. As soon as I saw him, I knew he was for me and that we would get married – and we did just six months later! I was myself from the second I met him, I didn’t have to pretend to be something I thought he wanted – it was pure comfort from day one. And the best part is that after nine years I still can’t wait to come home to him!
Off to snuggle with my main squeeze – see you tomorrow!
This is adorable! Here’s to love!
what a great dinner and an even better story! i hope i have a wonderful marriage like yours one day!!!
Nice job Tony!
I love the sauce! I didn’t know you could puree it with the prosciutto in there, but that’s awesome since I am not a chunky sauce girl either!
He added the chunked prosciutto AFTER the puree, but the pieces got really tender after they cooked – yum! I am going to use this sauce on my pizza tonight!
Awww how sweet!! That pasta looks fun – I love the shape!
Aw what a beautiful dinner and story. I’m such a hopeless romantic so this made me so happy 🙂 you deserve it girl.
what a sweet story and great dinner he made! I love coming home to snuggle with my hubby too 🙂
That’s so great!!!! What an amazing man you have 🙂 The dinner looks excellent, my mouth is watering. I love it when Nick cooks because, unlike me, he goes ALL OUT, like your husband. I’m into cooking things that are fast, healthy, and tasty, but I guess the guys like to truly impress. Not a problem! HAve a great day.
AW! You two are so perfect for each other I just love it!
totally cute 😀 My mom and stepdad met online too! And I always hated explaining or getting weird looks from ppl when I said that, but now I think I’ve matured enough to realize that their love and relationship is once in a lifetime- they are lucky to have found each other, and i’m lucky to have them too. haha of course i’ll reveal this to you but never her!!
Awww Biz you made me tear up!
Dinner looks absolutely delicious (I accidentally typed “absolutely jealous” … subconsciously?!?) hahaha! A man that can cook you dinner – especially a dinner as yummy as that is a keeper!
Aw, I love the story 🙂
oh my God. How sweet can you two be? I seriously think you guys are one big happy, loving family. Rare to find these days! you’re so blessed, Biz!
Man, I’m smacking my lips at the thought of that dinner, too!
Dinner looks yummy!!

That pasta looks FABULOUS! Oh boy, it makes me hungry for dinner all over again. Way to get a protein boost, too.
