I stopped by the store on my way home and as luck would have it, they had a 1.5 pound bone-in ribeye in the 50% clearance bin AND any meat you can put in a brown paper bag, you got an additional 20% off!!
I got the steak for $4.85!! It was delicious too!
The crab meat I got from Fresh Market when I went shopping with my mom on Sunday (part of my original $55 budget). This was 20% off – because its claw meat, the price isn’t too bad:
I modified a Cooks Illustrated recipe, just by dividing the recipe in half and leaving out the scallions (gross!).

I did the steak on the grill – I recently found this and now nothing sticks – I spray both sides of the meat (or whatever) I am grilling and it works out great!
For the bearnaise butter, all I did was mix 3 tablespoons softened butter, 1 tsp. dried tarragon, 1 tsp. minced garlic, 1/2 tsp. fresh lemon juice, 1/8 tsp. salt, 1/8 tsp. black pepper. I ended up using about 1/2 tsp. between my steak and bread.

I have some interesting things on tap for tomorrow – my sister and I talked about a potato egg dish she saw on a bed and breakfast website that I am going to try to recreate individually – lunch is my quinoa/spaghetti squash/baby spinach cottage cheese lasagna, and with the rest of the crab meat, I am going to be making Chicken Oscar for dinner tomorrow = YUM!
Need to finish cleaning the kitchen and go catch up on our DVR with Tony – see you tomorrow!
Check out this giveaway at Jenny’s blog – lots of loot!
What a dinner. The crabcakes definitely got our attention. They sound divine.
I didn’t know they had Pam for grills! I’ll have to get some!
DVR is so addicting! We just got it and now I’m trying to not JUST watch TV when I’m home 😉
What a fantastic meal! And isn’t it great when you get something for cheaper than expected?! I love it.
Biz, if I could choose any blogger to make me dinner I’m pretty sure I would pick you! Have I said that before?! Your surf and turf combinations make me happy 🙂
Oh how I wish I could have eaten dinner at your house tonight! haha 🙂
