Truth be told, I normally cannot grill. At all. But since I have had to become grill master while Tony’s knee recovers, I have taken all the years of watching him grill and I think I am getting a lot better!
The secret to cooking meat is indirect heat. Tony usually stacks his coals on one side of the Weber, sears the meat on both sides on the hot side, then puts the meat on the cool side. It helps for me to have a remote meat thermometer too! 😀 I got these new Kingsford coals that are called “competition” coals, but they burn really hot and fast – I ended up having to add regular charcoal to keep the heat up.
None of my dinner plate pictures turned out – turns out my camera was in between two settings and I didn’t realize it! I had 4 ounces of chicken breast (skin removed!), 3/4 cup of couscous and broiled broccoli. Tony gave me props on the grilled chicken too! 😀
Biggest Loser Spoiler Alert!
First of all, when I saw Kristin at the end, being a motivational speaker – I nearly cried! She has come such a long way, and even though she won’t be like Ali Vincent last year at the finale, she has done AMAZING so far!
Secondly, I am so happy they started talking about NUTRITION on the show. We all know working out 6 – 8 hours a day will help you lose weight, but other than the Jennie-O commercials and Ziploc steam bags, nutrition is often ignored on the show. You need to use food as fuel to have your body do what you are asking it to do. If you don’t feed your body enough, it hangs on to what you have for fear of never getting enough.
I think Helen should have gone home, since Kristin still has farther to go, but it is still a game! I think May 12 is the season finale. I’ve decided that April 1st (my manifesto!) is going to be my “before.” I have my weight and measurements, and that I am going to use the same amount of days as BL as my after. Did you know that there are 234 days from the start of Biggest Loser to the end?? I am only on day 22!! But I am proud of myself for sticking with the workouts – that’s always been my downfall, and you can’t have success without both the diet and working out working hand in hand. Hope you’ll follow me til the end!
Now I am catching up with American Idol to see who’s voted off tonight – 2 people! My prediction?? Anoop and Lil – I think they have gotten as far as they can in this competition.
See you tomorrow!
I think I might try to do the shred for 30 days!!!
If you can do it, so can I!
Oh yum! And I was wondering, how do always calculate your meal calories? Is there a program for this?
http://www.calorieking.com is my best friend – I weigh all my food and then plug it in. If there is a product that isn’t there, I can manually add it. My blood sugar numbers have never been so steady – my 30 day average is now 106, when it used to be in the 300’s!
Good job for sticking with the workouts! I will follow you til the end!
Love the grilled chicken!!! great job Grill Master! 🙂

Your post about the biggest loser was far better and happier than my post. lol I was hating on Ron!

GREAT grilling!!!
I agree about the nutrition on BL… i was annoyed at how LITTLE they ate, and thrilled that Bob got annoyed with them!
Great job on the grilling – that chicken looks delicious! I’m not so great at the grilling.
Good job Grill Master!

I can’t wait till the summer, when we can barbecue outside in our backyard!
