We had to drive 30 minutes to pick up a prescription for Tony, and we passed a Mexican restaurant and decided to stop. We are so glad we did! Seriously, the best Mexican food we have ever had. But the best part? Tacos were $1.65 each! So while I ordered one of the most expensive things on the menu ($13.99) our bill with tax and drink came in at only $33.10!! While the tacos were on the small side, both Hannah and Tony said they were extremely flavorful!
Our meals all came with complimentary soup. I would think it would have been a tortilla soup, but today it was broccoli soup. We all had to spice it up a bit!
But the star of the show was the shrimp. There were probably 8 big shrimp on my plate that were butterflied and had the tail on. Um, let me just say that my hands looked like a two year olds they were so messy as I was trying to peel the shrimp! I ended up having two homemade corn tortillas (hope to make my own soon!), all the shrimp, 1/2 of the rice, 1/2 cup refried beans, 1/3 of an avocado and a diet coke. I had ordered an iced tea, but it was already sweetened.
I couldn’t find a link to the restaurant, but its called Taqueria Toluca in McHenry, Illinois. We will definitely be going there again!
Hannah and I are off the Menards and Sam’s Club. I am cleaning my “kitchen” portion of my basement. Turns out I have quite a few cooking gadgets, and I am finally getting a big shelf so it will be easy to access. With Hannah as my organizer, I am pretty sure it will go quickly! See you later!
