is our local beef stand and that’s where I picked up lunch for me and Tony. Now if there is a holy grail (Tony’s words) of the ultimate comfort food, it is the Pizza Puff. I don’t think Tony and I have had one for over 15 years but today seemed like the day to take a walk down memory lane.
![pizza-puff2 Just as delicious as we remembered! And suprisingly not as greasy as we remembered!](http://biz319.files.wordpress.com/2009/02/pizza-puff2.jpg?w=300)
And of course, no trip to the beef stand would be complete without a traditional Chicago Style hot dog. A Chicago style hot dog is a dog that is only steamed or boiled never broiled. It’s always an all beef hot dog on a poppy seed bun. It’s topped with mustard, onion (no thanks!), sweet pickle relish, a dill pickle spear, tomato slices and sport peppers (not for Tony) and a dash of celery salt.
![hot-dog and there is NEVER any ketchup, and if you ask for it, they'll ask you to leave!](http://biz319.files.wordpress.com/2009/02/hot-dog.jpg?w=224)
I tried to keep my meal on the healthier side and ordered a grilled chicken breast on a pita with lettuce and cucumbers, and I had 1.5 ounces of Tony’s fries with my habanero ketchup. But then I noticed as they were about to put my chicken breast on the grill, they added a pat of butter to the grill! So my “healthy” lunch comes in at 584 calories, 20 fat and 58 carbs.

Okay kids, afternoon break is over. Come back tonight for Grilled Buffalo Chicken Pizza!
Hi Thank You for the comment. I haven’t had chance to read through your blog yet, but I’ve added you to my blog list and will drop by tomorrow. 🙂
I haven’t had a Chicago dog for a long time now. That and deep dish pizza.
If there is a heaven, they serve pizza puffs there.
Wow, it looks amazing!!!
You can’t leave out the tomato on a Chicago hot dog!!
thats the KEY!!! 🙂
Looks great!
Never heard of a pizza puff, will have to try it out!
I love Chicago dogs, except I omit the tomato. The pickle spear is fantastic! I never got the no-ketchup thing until I moved here – it’s almost an inside joke of sorts. And the relish has to be that bright, neon radioactive color!! hahahaha Yum!
