For breakfast I made sliced apples on peasant bread with extra sharp cheddar cheese. So yum! I just love this combo of sweet and sharp.
Then it was time to put up the tree! It’s a prelit tree, which is so nice, except it maybe took me about 15 minutes to hook all the pieces together! But I love how quickly it goes up – I miss the smell of a real Christmas tree, but I don’t miss trying to vacuum up all the fallen needles!
Can’t post the kids picture yet because I am mailing our cards out tomorrow – you’ll have to wait, but they turned out just as we planned!
So all of a sudden, its time to go meet my mom for our movie. We ended up stopping at Arby’s and Hannah and I split this on the way to the theater:
We ended up seeing the movie The boy in the striped pajamas. Here is what the movie is about:
Set during World War II, a story seen through the innocent eyes of Bruno, the eight-year-old son of the commandant at a concentration camp, whose forbidden friendship with a Jewish boy on the other side of the camp fence has startling and unexpected consequences.
It was very powerful. And the weird thing is that there were NO PREVIEWS at all. Just the turn your cell phones off and the movie started. That never happens!
After the movie we tried to go to Starbucks to chat with my mom – NO ROOM AT THE INN. There was not one seat available! And some people were sitting by themselves at a four person table – and so many people working on their computers! So we ended up going back to the lobby of the movie theater and chatted for about 25 minutes.
I stopped by the store to pick up a few things, and found these double yolk eggs that are HUGE! And only 15 calories more than a regular egg! They almost don’t fit my egg container!
Since it was going to be almost 6 by the time we got home, I ended up picking up Chinese food. We split a chicken and broccoli, shrimp fried rice (NO ONIONS!) and egg rolls. I thought the chicken was a bit bland so I added some of my hot stir-fry sauce. I picked up some Chinese spare ribs for Tony but they were not good at all. Luckily he wasn’t that hungry after football food with Joe!
So I am continuing with my biscotti baking – I am on the fourth batch so far! Now I am off to put my Christmas cards together! Hope everyone had a great weekend! See you tomorrow!
Oh wow, apples and melted cheese? That sounds ridiculously yummy! I love the apples now; they are so in season, juicy, crisp and delicious! I must try this out! 🙂
Double yolk eggs….?? Interesting find!
Yay for biscottis!
I need to try that combo for breakfast – what a perfect sweet & savory flavor balance 🙂
I like to mix sweet and savory flavors, they make each other taste better!
popcorn chicken? never heard of it.
double york egg is great, but so hard to find them.
ohhh…i want to see that movie. and no previews…that’s different.
breakfast looks yummy…i’ve always wondered how those two taste together!
no previews?? that is awesome! AND so sweet of your daughter to be your DD last night 😀
Sounds like you had a busy day. Your breakfast looks yummy.
I really need to try apples with cheese! It’s going on the to-do list now 🙂
I’m glad to hear the movie is good. I was majoring in History when I was going to become a teacher so I’m a big history nerd!
No onions – good choice!
Actually, I don’t mind them as much, as I used to despise them. I guess my flavor palette changed just slightly.
And Arby’s has popcorn chicken? Since when?! I love their curly fries.
