So I went to the local farmers market at lunch, and it was very tiny and right next to the train tracks!
That very first table on the left? All it had on it was apples. No signs with specific types of apples, any prices, just apples. I walked right on by. But lo and behold, the next table was a CHEESE table and the woman was very helpful and was happy to have you taste anything. Well, the first thing I noticed were the bags of CHEESE CURDS!
I don’t know where my mom got them when were kids, but we used to call them squeaky cheese, because they squeaked against your teeth when you chewed. And it was always white cheese curds. No flavors, not cheddar, just white.
Well today, they had “honey and hot” flavored cheese curds! Okay, you know I like spicy flavorful, and this fit the bill to a T. The heat came at the very end, but the salty cheese, with the slight honey flavor, I was in heaven!
I also got a smoked gouda cheese that has mustard seeds in it. So different and good! I imagine shredding it on a turkey sandwich and grilling it.
Here is my bounty:
Off to make dinner – see you then!
I can’t say I’ve ever had cheese curds. Looks like you got a good bounty!
I love farmer’s market pictures! The cheese sounds really good.
Don’t you just love farmers’ markets? I go to my local one every week (Sunday mornings).
