There are some mornings when I get up at 6:30 and by the time I leave work a little after 8, it seems like I have all the time in the world. Yesterday morning I was busy being the normal tornado of activities when all of a sudden it was 7:50 and I hadn’t taken a shower yet!
I made the coffee granola for my Pear Chobani – I think that’s my favorite flavor so far. I liked the granola as a topping, but it’s not the kind of snacking granola like my crack granola. But I do like how low in sugar this batch was. I had two scrambled eggs on the side and some delicious blackberries.
The weather was gorgeous – 82 degrees and sunny. Since Friday is actually my rest day, I just swam for 25 minutes and then listened to music for 15 minutes. I had the whole pool to myself!
The other day I was cleaning out my medicine cabinet and came across some nail polish that I am sure was Hannah’s. I decided to paint my nails and while I was swimming I like how the color looked under the water. It’s probably been a couple years since I painted them!
Lunch was more leftovers – taco meat from my taco salad, black beans and rice from our steak quesadilla night, and the last of my pickled jalapenos – I need to make more – stat!
I had to laugh because when I googled “bizzy kitchen quesadilla” to get that link above, I found a picture from 2009 of my “ooey gooey quesadillas.” This picture looks like ass!
I think my photo skillz are a bit better today!
I actually had a busy afternoon at work, which I loved. Makes the day go by so much faster! Tony went shopping earlier in the day and bought a boneless rolled rump roast to grill out – on sale for $2.89 a pound. He just used black pepper and garlic salt on it – since I’ll be morphing the leftovers into other dishes, this is the perfect seasoning.
I pulled the meat off at 120 and put it in foil to rest for 20 minutes before slicing. I nuked 6 baby potatoes in the microwave, then put about a teaspoon of oil and a tablespoon of butter in the bottom of a small cast iron skillet, and put the potatoes cut side down to crisp up while the meat rested.
We sat outside, I enjoyed some wine while Tony had a couple beers. It wasn’t until I went to take this picture that I realized I didn’t make any veggie on the side! Oh well. It was delicious. I think we’ll have quesadillas again with the leftovers, we both enjoyed those.
So it’s been a couple weeks since I weighed in on the blog. The last time was at the end of the DietBet and I weighed in at 161.4. Today I am . . .
I’ve lost 2 more pounds bringing my summer total weight loss to 16.4 pounds.
More importantly . . . I am in the 150s!!!
I haven’t been there since 2011, and it feels good. But you know what I’ve learned this summer? Is that you actually have to move and eat well to lose weight. I know – who knew, right?! I’ve talked about all the things I am going to do, only to give up when it gets hard. It’s much easier to come home and drink wine and pretzels than to do Insanity every night, but my hard work is showing results, and I really couldn’t be prouder of myself.
Thanks for all of your continued cheerleading for me – it helps more than you’ll ever know. And to Tony, who is my biggest cheerleader of all – and reminds me daily that I am doing this for me because he thought I was just as beautiful at 175. How lucky am I?
Alright, I am still on operation clean out pantry/freezer and fridge. I am hoping to spend less than $50 at the store today. Do you have any tried and true “cheap” meals up your sleeve? I wish Tony liked macaroni and cheese!
Have a great weekend! See you Monday.
You are doing great!
I have a recipe (not mine but amazing) for a lentil soup if you’d like it
WOW! Congratulations, that’s great! Keep up the good work 🙂
Giving you a big pat on the back for your weight loss success! When things finally click magic happens.
Beans and rice are cheap and so tasty!
I am so proud of you Biz! You are so motivating 😀
Thanks Lori!!
Congratulations! That is big news. Your blog is so inspiring because you eat the most delicious looking food, you work out, and you are losing weight. It is motivating me everyday! Thank you, Biz!
Way to go!!!
Thanks Jacky! Our summer weather has been awesome this weekend! 😀
Congratulations sweety! You worked very hard for this and you are such an inspiration to me!
I have lots of nailpolish but never paint my finger nails. I do polish my toes during Summer though.
Thanks Fran – and thanks for being such a great cheerleader!!
I don’t know who this Tony is (I’m guessing your other half), but how could he not like mac and cheese. Is that even possible?
I love you make your own granola. I do too, and I can’t get enough. It’s cheap, easy and filling; oh and it’s incredible delicious too. Your breakfast looks like something I’d love to dive into; those quesadillas too, and if those are your before and after shots, then your photos have significantly improved. I take it the squirrel was away that day. 😉
Congratulations on your weight loss milestones. That’s awesome, and I always focus on the delicious things I can eat, instead of the things I can’t. It makes it so much easier.
Yep, Tony is my other half – you can see him here in action making his famous fried rice!

And yes, that is my before and after photography – its taken me a while to get the hang of my new camera, um, that will be 3 years old in December! 😀
I enjoy following you on Instagram. 😀
Meghan, mac and cheese is disgusting. It’s made from old man breath and poo.
Blasphemous. Say it ain’t so, Tony. I’ve never tried old man breath or poo but I will say my mac and cheese tastes nothing like either of those. 😉
Wow!! Congrats Biz 🙂
Love the nails. I almost always have mine painted. My two favorite colors (they are almost the same) are “after sex” by Essie and “I’m not really a waitress” by OPI.
I have a lot of cheap meals but none that Tony would like. I love eggs for dinner.
Hannah and I used to have breakfast for dinner when Tony traveled for work – we loved it!
I love that OPI color -“I’m not really a waitress” I’ll have to check that one out. I am surprised at how well this color is staying on for Wet & Wild brand!
mmmm round rump roast…drooling just looking at it. You do great grill work.
Wow on the 150’s!
Thanks Kym, I learned everything from my husband – before I got married I probably only grilled a dozen times in my life – now I love it!
I made my lower carb version of your Chobani Blueberry Muffins today. My husband tasted a bite of mine and surprisingly asked for his own. He added extra butter of course. Thanks for the recipe!
That’s awesome!!
Congrats!!! Awesome job!
Congratulations on your milestone! That’s awesome. I walked my dog and I did a little yoga and weights today, so got a little exercise. 🙂
That’s great Sheryl!!
Wow! What a great accomplishment! The 150’s are quite a milestone. You did good–and the nails are very pretty!
Thank you! Hope you have a great Sunday!
YEA for 150’s, beautiful nails, and much better photographer skills all around! Loved this post 🙂 Happy saturday!
Thanks Courtney – you too!
Into the 150s! YAY!! Congrats Biz! You have worked so hard to get there!
Thanks Mel!
The nails look gorgeous! Tried and true cheap meals? That could be a new blog, Biz. You aren’t that busy are you? I think you are doing mighty fine! If I could just steal that attitude for a day, I’d be thrilled!
Ha, not out of energy, just on a tight budget for a while. 😀 And it forces me to be creative in the kitchen!
Yay….for poundage loss….doesn’t that number look great along side your painted toes!!! Your nails look great too!!!
I guess I am blessed to have a husband that eats everything I cook. There’s just a few things…like carrots (sometimes I hide them) in things he likes, but for the most part there are very few things he dislikes. His favorite right now is Lasagna Soup….keeps asking for it even in hot weather!!!
That roast and potatoes look great….yum!!! Oh and your pictures always look great. Cause my mouth ::drooles:: at the pictures you take of food, I want to go make it right away. 🙂
I actually have Lasagna soup on my lunch menu this week too! Love it! 😀 Have a great weekend Louise – and happy 40th wedding anniversary to you and J.P.!!
wahoo 150’s!!
Thanks Marcia! 😀
AHHHHH! Congrats whoop whoop! That is so darn awesome. I never paint my nails…it comes off too fast. Those potatoes look delicious. I’m making your chobani blueberry muffins RIGHT NOW!
Thanks Erica – you know I am actually surprised at how long these are lasting – and the nail polish was Wet & Wild!
WOOHOO, the 150s!!! Congratulations!!!!!!!!
Thanks Shelley!
