I defrosted sirloin steaks that I had in the deep freeze, but knew I had to stop at the store to pick up raw shrimp for the dinner I was making for Joe tonight. I got 1.25 pounds of the big shrimp, and when I went to the register, it rang up at over $14, and I thought that wasn’t right, because the “card” price was supposed to be $8.99 a pound. I double checked when I got home, and they didn’t ring it up right. Luckily, since its Monday, the current sale runs through Wednesday, and if something doesn’t ring up correctly, you get all your money back! So the shrimp was on the store tonight!
It was so good. The first thing I did when I got home was to start a quick marinade of minced garlic, about 1 teaspoon olive oil, fresh cracked pepper and a touch of season salt.
I baked potatoes in the microwave, and when the were cool, I cut them in half, scooped out most of the pulp. Then I put them skin side up on my cookie sheet, brushed each with a bit of olive oil and cracked pepper and sea salt. I broiled them for about 6 minutes until they were nice and crispy!
I knew I needed to add a vegetable to my dinner, and decided to make my garlic shrimp into a baby spinach salad. I drizzled it with about a tablespoon of TJ’s pear gorgonzola salad dressing.

I am now off to clean out our two refrigerators – I have no idea what I have and need to inventory to see if I can make the rest of the weekly menu with just stuff I have on hand. Wish me luck! See you tomorrow!
Surf and turf is the only reason that I know I could NEVER be a vegetarian. I could give up chicken easily. But shrimp, steak, and salmon…NEVER! This looks soooo good.
Good luck cleaning the refrigerators – there’s always something creepy lurking in the back!
You just can’t beat free shrimp! And damn, those taters look good!

That’s really cool about the store! I wish ours did that! Once, I brought a handful of coupons that I’d clipped and the guy put them up by his keyboard. I realized at home, while reviewing the receipt, that he hadn’t scanned them! I called the store and they were not helpful at all.. basically “oh well!”
I just finished cleaning my fridge, too! It was a mess.
