It was stormy off and on all day yesterday so we kept our computer off all day – it was kind of nice to be off line for the day!
So here was my weekend in pictures: Saturday breakfast – scrambled eggs with sausage on dark rye bread.
I got to mow the lawn! I think it’s only the third time I’ve mowed our lawn in nearly 11 years.
I made Chicago Style Deep Dish Pizza Saturday night – as a total coincidence, so did Nicole!
Our weekends of late have been eating a late breakfast so we don’t end up eating lunch – I actually thought I would eat half of this pizza, but one slice was perfect.
Tony made me breakfast yesterday morning. This is a combination of one egg, egg beaters with wilted spinach on a sesame bagel. I have no idea how he does it, but Tony makes the best eggs I’ve ever had – I’ve watched him make them but I can’t recreate them!
I spent a while putting my SIL’s lunches together – this is how much I love my SIL – I caramelized onions for her pulled pork sandwich!
I made more artisan bread – this time just one loaf and I have the rest of the dough in the fridge – in case you didn’t know, the dough can last in your fridge for 14 days.
And then for dinner last night I made Nicole’s lightened up alfredo pasta – except I added bay scallops to mine. If you like alfredo, you have to try this recipe – although Tony could tell this was a lightened version, it was still delicious!
The bay scallops look like tiny balls of mozzarella!
I had a great weekend with Tony – we went shopping together on Saturday, we sat outside on Saturday with the dog for a while. My SIL hung out with us for an hour yesterday when she came to pick up her food for the week. It was just a nice, relaxing weekend.
How was your weekend? Make it a great day!
That deep dish pizza looks AMAZING!
Wowza, that deep dish pizza just made me do a total double take!! YUM! I have never tried making this at home but I bet it would be really fun (and yummy) – on the list 🙂
Sounds like a great weekend on the food front for sure, Biz! That deep dish pizza looks amazing – you and Nicole have given me the biggest deep dish pizza craving!
A yummy weekend! I can’t believe Tony let you mow the lawn. I hope that doesn’t mean he’s not feeling too hot!
Sounds like a great weekend, I love just hanging out at home too. The deep-dish pizza…oh my!! Saturday I took senior pics and Sunday I did crafts, my kinda’ weekend 🙂
Cheers to a nice relaxing weekend. YAY. And cheers to riding on a mower!!!! (little Roz truth…I LOVE the smell of fresh cut grass more than any smell in the world) Have a great Monday.
wow that pizza looks so incredible! i’ve always been too daunted to try to cook a deep dish pizza…but every time you make it, i want to try!
Sounds like a great weekend! I still haven’t ever tried deep dish pizza, what is wrong with me!? haha
I think I need to start taking my Sundays to unplug from the world, sounds like a good thing!
Mmmmm dark rye bread – haven’t had that in a long time! Need to remember to add it to the grocery list!
I’m jealous of your riding lawn mower! Can I borrow it this weekend to mow our lawn? hehe
I’ve never made bread or pizza dough from scratch. Your picture of the deep dish pizza makes my mouth water, so I’ll have to give it a try soon.
Glad you had a relaxing weekend. That’s pretty much what I did this weekend…relax.
I love mowing the lawn, it smells so good! Good to hear you and Tony had such a good weekend, glad he is feelin’ good! 🙂
Oh yum, that pizza looks amazing; so do Tony’s eggs. Wonder what he does to them to make them so good!
They are flavored with love! 😀 And he puts spicy shit on them. 😀
I am loving this deep dish pizza!
I have never made it but definitely want to give it a try. As I mentioned on Nicole’s blog, I have only had deep dish in Chicago once and wish I could try it again!
ha, that is funny, I always tell my hubby he makes better scrambled eggs than me too! Sounds like a great weekend!
I love anything alfredo related. So, so yummy! My weekend was a lot of fun – lost of quality time with the hubby and little guy.
Sounds like a great weekend! Ours was spent mostly at home, doing homey things!
You must love your SIL! Funny, I just blogged about how organized you are and how you pack lunches for others. I am so very impressed!! And jealous. 🙂
Thanks Marcia! 😀 Hope you had a great weekend!
Who eats 1 slice of pizza? Impressed, I have an empty belly when it comes to pizza so I try and avoid it. Glad you had a great weekend!
What a great weekend Biz. I unplug almost every weekend from the internet these days and I love it. I have more time to do the things again I always have loved doing.
One of the first things that had to go when we changed our garden was the lawn. It was always a fight who had to mowe it 🙂
Sometimes it’s nice to unplug. Glad you and Tony had such a great weekend together – sounds like he’s feeling much better! Yay for that!!!
I’ve never mowed a lawn in my life, but if we had a riding lawnmower, you better believe I’d be fighting to play with it – er, I mean, work hard at mowing the lawn. Yeah, that’s it.
When the kids were little, they used to love to “drive” around the yard!
What a nice weekend! I have never mowed the lawn! As silly as this sounds…Josh doesn’t want me to! I do a lot around the house and he wants a job that is truly his, I can’t do it…so mow the lawn it is. Your bread always looks so darn good. Our weekend was filled with family and outdoor time
You caramelized onions for your sister?!?! That is love! 😉 My in-laws are still raving about the deep dish…that is one great recipe for sure! I’m so glad the alfredo was (somewhat) od a hit, too. Those men!! 😉 When I was reading this post I was remembering yesterday when Mark was like…”You’re ALWAYS making something!” 🙂 That’s how I best enjoy my weekends!
That pretty much sums up my weekend too – sometimes I have to force myself to stop cooking! 😀
