Instant Pot Refried Beans

Yield: 8 cups
Prep Time: 5 minutes
Cook Time: 40 minutes
Total Time: 45 minutes

Creamy, flavorful, and completely zero Weight Watchers points, these Instant Pot refried beans are the perfect healthy staple for meal prep.

Ingredients

  • 1 pound dried pinto beans
  • 8 cups water
  • 2 tablespoons chicken bouillion
  • 2 tablespoons taco seasoning (or one packet taco seasoning)
  • 4 tablespoons Taco Bell fire sauce

Instructions

  1. Put everything into the instant pot and mix until combined.
  2. Pressure cook on high for 25 minutes.
  3. (My instant pot has a "bean" setting so I cooked mine on the bean setting for 20 minutes).
  4. Let the pressure cooker sit for 20 minutes after cooking. Release the steam.
  5. Let cool slightly and add beans and some of the water to a blender, adding more water if needed for desired consistency.
  6. Optional: garlish with chopped cilantro and salsa matcha.

Notes

Without the salsa matcha garnish, these beans are zero Weight Watchers points.

Salsa Macha

Salsa macha is one of those bold, flavor-packed condiments that instantly elevates anything it touches. Originating in Mexico, it’s made with dried chiles, garlic, oil, and often nuts or seeds, creating a rich, slightly smoky sauce with a little crunch and serious depth of flavor. It’s not your typical fresh salsa. It’s more like a chili oil with personality. Drizzle it over eggs, tacos, roasted vegetables, grilled meats, or even avocado toast for a spicy, savory kick that keeps you coming back for more.

The brand I am using is from my friend Freddsters.  You can check out his website here.

If you are new here, welcome to My Bizzy Kitchen! I started this blog 16 years ago to document my recipes and daily life, never imagining it would one day become my full-time career. After losing my husband nearly 10 years ago, I navigated the hardest chapter of my life while still finding joy in cooking and sharing my journey.

In December 2020, I took a leap of faith and left my 30-year career as a legal secretary to pursue My Bizzy Kitchen full-time, a decision that changed my life.

Two years later, in October 2022, I was able to hire my daughter, Hannah, full-time, which brings me so much joy. Now, My Bizzy Kitchen is more than just recipes.  It’s about embracing life, finding balance, and making healthy living sustainable and fun.
