The days I think I am going to be busy at work, don’t turn out that way. The days I think are not going to be too busy, are the days that are, and yesterday was one of them. I hit the ground running, but luckily I have a stash of Premier Protein in the mini fridge near my desk, so I had this 2 smart point shake to start the day.
A couple hours later when things settled down, I ate the second half of my breakfast – Chobani (2) with banana and a tablespoon of granola (1) with a hard boiled egg on the side (2).
It was near 90 degrees when it was time to meet my sister for our lunch walk. Instead of the pedway, we just did laps at Macy’s on State Street. It’s about 10 stories high and we spent 40 minutes walking around and to the top.
Look at how gorgeous this mosaic ceiling is! Our reward for getting to the top, although you could take an elevator! You can read about the history of the building here. And after reading that article, I now realize it’s 9 stories tall.
Lunch was a delicious chicken and mozzarella wrap with shredded rainbow carrots – I cooked the chicken in Trader Joe’s chile lime seasoning, so good. But after I snapped this picture, I added Frank’s hot sauce 😀 The lavash is 2 points, the chicken was 4, the mozzarella 1 and cherries for dessert. I’ve lucked out on cherries so far this year – absolutely delicious and I don’t mind spending $8 for a big bag of them. I wouldn’t give a second thought to spending $8 on a bottle of wine!
We are awaiting the power cord to be shipped so I can use my Insanity DVD’s. So last night when I got home from work, I turned on FitTV on U-verse – you have to subscribe to that channel, but there are half a dozen free workouts every month. I picked a 35 minute Jillian strength workout with hand weights – I used 5 pound weights – I am feeling it in my shoulders this morning!
The kadults weren’t home, and the dogs were pretty good about staying on the couch during my workout – that was until it was time for stretching. Um, apparently Rummy feels it’s perfectly acceptable to step on my stomach.
And Roman was nice enough to bring me his toy, that was wet with his spit because he’d been chewing it the whole time I worked out.
This one is my favorite though – like “grandma, when are you going to be done and play with me?!!”
I found some meatballs in my freezer – I remember they were from Sam’s Club. I threw out the package but wrote on the ziploc that each meatball (which were big!) was 5 smart points. I boiled water for pasta while I worked out, so this dinner came together in no time. I had more of my zero point pasta sauce – I had about 1.2 cups of pasta (7) with the meatball (5) and a tablespoon of shaved Parmesan (1). I added in the baby spinach at the end.
This is pure comfort food in a bowl. While my sister has pasta several times a week, I don’t have it that often, so it was a delicious treat. After factoring in my coffee creamer throughout the day, I ended with 28/30 for the day, but with my 61 point day last Friday, I am negative 9 points for the week.
I had to laugh at one of my first blog posts that was also called On Top Of Old Smokey – from October 2008! It kind of looks like I threw the food in the garbage and then scooped it up and put it in a bowl and took a picture 😛
Kym, looks like I used Italian seasoning or dried parsley back then too! 😀
I am on my way to Weight Watchers to weigh in this morning. My sister has physical therapy for her knee, so I won’t meet up with her until our meeting at lunch. Not sure what the scale will say, but I am glad after my high point day last Friday, that I stayed within my points the rest of the week. We shall see!
Happy Thursday my friends! Make it a great day!
Oh my gosh, so funny that Roman was “helping” you on your workout. So cute.
I need to start doing workout DVD’s and morning runs again too but so far this year, I haven’t felt like doing it. Thank goodness I walk every day otherwise I wouldn’t get any exercise.
The advantage of living in a small country is that when you order something you get it delivered the next day. There are already online resellers who deliver the same day if you order before a certain time that day. When my Fitbit completely died earlier this year, I ordered a new one and got it delivered the same evening.
Paco has to get a bone and come lay right next to me whenever I’m on the floor doing stretches. It’s like “yay, you’re at my level, let’s play!!” – I swear, dogs are so funny.
I would shop the crap out of that ginormous Macy’s.
Too funny! My dogs try to cuddle with me when I’m doing yoga. When stretching on the ground after running, they want to lick my sweaty face! LOL!
My middle cat licks my sweaty arms after working out. He really goes bonkers after I have been working in the yard and have “outside ” smells on my body!?
Thank you, I now have that song “on top of spaghetti” running in my head and can’t turn it off. 🙂 Tee hee, dried spices in the older photos. See, even then you were destined to be a great food photographer. Roman would have had me with that face. I would have stopped right then and there to play. Good for you for sticking with your plan. I am such a sucker for animals. I can not believe that Macy’s. I’m sending my daughter the photo right now. The ceiling is unbelievable.
The dogs on top of you while you’re on the floor working out cracked me up. Because that’s exactly what my dogs do the whole time I’m doing my P.T. exercises (which are all done on the floor.)
That ceiling in Macy’s is amazing–thanks for sharing it!
