Yeah, that’s right. My sweater won most disturbing in our office ugly sweater contest! What would be even more disturbing is if I were 42, living in my Mom’s basement with lots of cats 😀
And the valuable prize I won was I appetizer tray with a knife that lights up:
I had an idea about breakfast that I wasn’t sure would work or not. I took a leftover serving of my broccoli gratin and put it in an oven safe 4 inch round ramekin. I then poured 1/2 cup of egg beaters on top, then sprinkled with parsley and crushed red pepper and baked it for 20 minutes at 350.
This was so good! It almost tasted like a cheese souffle!
On the side I had one of the grapefruits my MIL sent me. I put 1/2 teaspoon of honey on top of each cut grapefruit and then put it under the broiler for 5 minutes. The heat releases the juices and the honey melts into the grapefruit – kicks it up for 1 extra point. Breakfast Total: 7 PointsPlus.
I was really sore from my on Demand exercises I did on Sunday and didn’t think my legs were ready to run. I decided, just get on the treadmill, if it doesn’t work out, just do the elliptical. I did my customary warm-up, and instead of doing my run/walk, I told myself “see how long you can run without stopping.” I made it about 10 minutes before I needed to stretch my calf muscles, but only rested and stretched for 30 seconds. Once I started back running, my mantra was “I can do this!” Guess what my 5k time was????? 36:25! A new PR! It amazes me that I can run that time at 170 pounds 😀
I forgot to reset the clock after my warm-up, so my total time was 41:25, and then I ended up walking the rest for 45 minutes total. Boy was I hungry though when I got back to work! On the menu: 1 serving of my pasta fagioli (6 points), a Rachel sandwich which was 3 ounces of leftover turkey breast, 1/2 cup sauerkraut, 1/2 ounce of Gruyere cheese, a 1.3 ounce whole wheat dinner roll with jalapeno mustard (7 points). I also had two clementines on the side. Lunch total: 13 PointsPlus.
Our cookie exchange went well – I plan on dividing these up for our neighbors treat bags.
Earlier in the day I talked to Tony. Since I did my grocery shopping on the fly, I had “ideas” of meal plans, but wanted to know if he had a preference.
Biz: “So I was going to run some ideas about dinner tonight.”
Tony: “How can I possibly think of dinner when I haven’t even had lunch yet.” Go ahead and make whatever you want.”
Taco Fiesta! My next favorite meal to make right after pizza. I got home, started to brown the ground beef and Tony walked into the kitchen, looked at the pan and said “Fiesta?” Yep!
My plate: 2 corn tortillas, 3 ounces of 15% lean taco meat, 1 ounce avocado, 1 tablespoons light sour cream, 1/2 ounce cheddar cheese, romaine lettuce and diced cucumber – with Taco Bell hot sauce. Dinner is 11 PointsPlus.
Since the Bears game was on last night, I spent some time in the kitchen finishing up my gifts for the women at my office. I scored on some really cute crate and barrel glass snowman mugs at a garage sale over the summer – I got a box of 8 for $5! My plan was to make homemade Hot Cocoa Mix. I have to give credit to Brown Eyed Baker for this recipe – it is hands down the best cocoa mix I’ve ever made!
Course: main meals PointsPlus™ Value: 4 Servings: 20 Preparation Time: 5 min |
Ingredients
3 cup(s) nonfat dry milk
2 cup(s) powdered sugar
1 1/2 cup(s) Hershey’s Cocoa
1 cup(s) white chocolate chips |
Instructions (she added 1/2 teaspoon of salt which I omitted, but feel free to add it)
Mix dry ingredients until combined in food processor. Add chocolate chips and pulse until they are finely chopped.
Use between 1/4 to 1/3 cup cocoa mix to 8 ounces of hot milk.
The 4 points is based on 1/4 cup mix.
I measured out 2/3 cup of cocoa mix in a baggie, then topped it with mini marshmallows. Here’s how it looks all wrapped up – I also added a scratch off lottery ticket to each one 😀
- 31 PointsPlus (+ 5 points for wine = 36 points)
- 35 Flex Points remaining for the week
- New PR 5k – 36:25
- average blood sugar: 124
Today is my Friday already! Hope it goes by fast today. We got about 4 inches of snow last night and more on the way in the next few days. Pretty sure we’ll be having a White Christmas!
Make it a great day! 😀
OK that sweater has to be the funniest thing. It does remind me of what a cat lady would wear! Loved your little light up knife, too cool!
Darn, my comment didn’t take! That sweater was well-awarded; those cats look psychotic! You would have been a serious contender in my areas’ newspaper’s “Ugly Holiday Sweater Jubilee.” (I tried posting the link, but it didn’t work…it’s on sfgate.com on “The Poop” parenting blog pages.)
Absolutely LOVE LOVE LOVE the sweater! LOL! It puts my ugly xmas sweaters to shame! 🙂 And super congrats on the running PR! That is great news! 🙂
You know what I like best about the sweater picture? It’s evidence that it is not in a box on the way to my house for Christmas.
My brother commented!! Hey Charlie, did you get a peanut butter and jelly t-shirt in the mail? It was from me! 😀
Congrats on your week 1 loss, Biz!! I just found out yesterday that my company reimburses 100% for WW and I want to know all about the new program, so I’m going to WW once my vouchers come in the mail 🙂 Hopefully next week BEFORE the NY crowd! But I wanted to say congrats!!
And that sweater, haha! It deserved a win 😉
The cocoa looks fabulous…saving that recipe!!
Your prize is really cute!!
I tried a new grapefruit treat the other day that is my new favorite! Cut in half, sprinkle with cinnamon and bake in the the oven at 400 for about 20 minutes. SO good!!!
Jen
How much worse was the ugliest sweater? I wonder if it’s too late to ask my mom to make tacoes for my birthday Thursday…sounds good right now!
It’s never too late for tacos!
That sweater is redonk!
I would like to know who designed the sweater. The bells are over the top!
I’m now visitng my family for the Holidays. My parents ordered me to package fifteen boxes of chocolate while they watched TV. Now I’m really tired. 😉
I wish Bizzy Kitchen Merry Christmas and a Happy New Year in case I’m too busy to blog during the Holidays!
Thank you so much Satu – hey – do you watch Conan O’Brien in Finland? We just saw on t.v. last night that he no longer airs there – just curious!
haha, this is what i get when i’m telling my kids to put their jammies on while blog surfing. what i MEANT to say was i LOVE the sweater! hilarious, i especially love the bells.
Thank you for the clarification – I was like “what is Teresa talking about Jammies for?!”
i freaking LOVE the jammies!
Hahahaha!!! Is that a prize to be coveted in your workplace? Tee hee hee. Luckily, instead of cats, you have a loving hubby and daughter. 😉
ahhaha- that is one SWEET sweater. I want to meet people who actually buy these sweaters because they love them. Great breakfast- glad the experiment turned out well and I SO want some grapefruit. We had tacos/taco salads Friday night and I’m already craving Mexican again. Its my friday too!
the bears D helped me get a fantasy football win to the next round of the playoffs 🙂 Congrats on your 5k PR, that is awesome!!! love that breakfast idea too, way to be resourceful!
Omgosh, I hate cats sooo much, I might cry if I saw that sweater 🙂 lol
That sweater is hysterical! I wore a cat sweater for a Christmas party but that one takes the cake!! haha.
Your breakfast looks delish! I am going to have to try that out. yum!
That sweater is purr-etty terrific – hahahaha! Holy moly, where did you even find the thing?
I think with that 5K time you are ready for a real road race. Time to look for a spring race and get with it!
It’s funny, I bought it at our local thrift store and the woman checking me out commented “oh, what a delightful sweater – enjoy wearing it!” I didn’t have the heart to tell her it was for an ugly sweater contest!
So Biz, when are you going to take that 5k outside and run a road race?! 😀 I know you can do it! And once you do one, you won’t be able to stop! If you ever want to do something longer, I’ll come to Chicagoland to join you!
You are so nice Beth! I’ll let you know when I am ready for a long race 😀
I want to try the Hot Chocolate. Looks delish!
Congrats on the run!! Good for you for challenging yourself!
Have a great last day at work, Biz!
HAHA LOVE the sweater! 🙂 And your prize is so cute – I love the light up knife.
Had to share with you. I just did my personal best (according to Lance Armstrong on my Nike thing), 5K at 40:28 minutes. Me at 188 lbs. You are rocking girl!!! Keep up the great work. Your meals look fantastic. I need to get a bit more creative with mine too. Probably not this week or even next but after the first of the year I’ll head back to some of yours and see what I can do here with them.
Thank you for always having some excellent goodness to share. Take care and have a blessed day.
That is an awesome time Julie!! You are rocking it too!
Call me insanely crazy, but I actually kind of like your sweater for the pure “OMG” satisfaction of the holidays! haha The bells are a bit much though!
I think your hot cocoa gifts are ADORABLE and I love the lotto ticket touch! hehe 🙂
Deeply disturbing sweater. Congratulations on your excellent poor taste! And good score on the designer cheese plate!
Thank you for posting the points plus values of your foods. I’m starting next Tuesday, and you and TJ with your great meals and point listings is encouraging me that I won’t have to starve or do without to be successful. Also – great work on the run!
That’s what I love about it so far – I think I still eat a nice variety of food and am completely satisfied – I never even ate one cookie or treat at my office this holiday which is huge for me! 😀
man that sweater is disturbing! lol congrats on the WIN! 🙂
I love the hot chocolate mug idea!!!!! LOVE IT! 🙂
Hi Biz, wow….that is QUITE the sweater. Your office sounds so fun.
LOVE the cocoa mix gift idea!! The recipients of those are lucky!!
I want a bag of cocoa! What a neat idea.
We’re having fiesta night tonight. Woohoo!
That sweater….I’m surprised you even have that sweater. LOL Crazy cat lady. 😀
Enjoy your time off. Don’t you just love this time of year?!
Yep! Love that we are doing a low key version this year – we will just enjoy our time together and not feel rushed – love it! 😀
Great sweater!!! Congrats on winning most disturbing! 🙂 And congrats on the PR! You go!
I love the mugs with the hot chocolate mix! Great gifts!
Where’s mine? LOL – and I mean the cat sweater, the cookies or that cutie snowman cocoa cup. [shooting for the cat sweater tho’ ;D]
You are so great! Congrats on the win.
Oh and if I can’t have the cat sweater a light up cheese spreader would be a soothing consolation prize.
::sledding off now:: giggle
no doubt that sweater is in a class by itself – I think if it had recordings of pat boone playing from it would make it completely over the top…the egg dish is like a mini quiche – great idea…
BAHAHAHA at your sweater. So fabulous. Getting MATCHING ugly sweaters for B & I is on my to-do list today- think I’m going to check walmart & then thrift stores!
Great job on your 5k!
I’m loving your hot cocoa gift – that mug is perfect! It looks adorable…you always come up with such cute ideas. And I love that you won the Most Disturbing prize (cute prize, btw) – that sweater is pretty um…purr-riffic.
OOH! That’s right the bears played here in the icy cold stadium! I need to google and see how that went. They were paying people to show up and shovel out the stadium and then it snowed another 4 – 6 inches yesterday, it must have been miserable! My hubs wanted to go dig out with them, we’re not football fans so I’m like “What For?”. Weirdo.
Great idea with the broccoli! That looks GOOD!
Congrats on your new 5k PR!!! I have been slacking in the blog world so I just discovered you are doing WW and I am so excited. I love love love that you are continuing to cook your delicious looking meals and fitting what you enjoy into the program. That is exactly what WW is all about. Merry Christmas Biz!
