Do you ever have one of those work days where you feel like you accomplish nothing, but you are busy?? That was me yesterday.
Hugest frustration? Well, I have two. One is automated phone systems. The f_ing automated voice said “please say or enter your account number.” So I start to say 492. . . and before I even finish it says “I don’t understand, please reenter yoru account number.” F!
So I keep saying “operator!” And the voice keeps saying “in order to forward your call to the appropriate party, please enter your account number.” Really?
So I finally do connect with someone – hallelujah! And as soon as I hear him speak, I know its not going to go well. Um, turns out he can’t speak English very well! He asks my name, I say “Biz” and he says “Thanks Vat for calling such and such company. . .” and continued to call me VAT throughout the whole conversation.
So something that should have taken me a maximum of 15 minutes yesterday at work took over 90 minutes. Hate that.
But I did have good eats and a great bike ride! You take the good with the bad, right?!
So I had another serving of my spinach/potato/ham breakfast casserole with an apple on the side – breakfast comes in at 7 points.
Had I know it was going to be cooler yesterday, I would have switched my jog/bike days – but I had a gorgeous 8 mile bike ride at lunch – it took me 50 minutes – the weather was perfect, 76 degrees and partly sunny – nice! I didn’t look like a beet when I got back to my desk. š
I threw together stuff to make a homemade Chipotle burrito. Just for kicks I decided to put in my burrito stats into chipotlefan.com to see where it would come in at: tortilla, rice, chicken, cheese and red hot salsa:
- 750 calories, 28 grams of fat, 76 carbs, 6 fiber and 51 protein
- 20 points!
My version: 1 La Tortilla factory low carb wrap, 1/2 cup spanish rice, 2 ounces leftover turkey breast, lettuce and lots of Cholula hot sauce. 7 PointsPlus š On the side I had some diced watermelon and banana.
This hot sauce is quickly becoming my favorite and my beloved Tabasco is being pushed a little but further in the pantry.
I had to stop by the store on my way home for work to pick up stuff for our weekly office BBQ – on the menu this week: pulled chicken bbq sandwiches, cole slaw, corn on the cob and potato chips – my co-worker is bringing in brownies. She sent me the recipe to see how many points they were – um, each one is 15 points! The recipe calls for 3 cups of sugar. Yikes!
So it was another throw together dinner – more of our tomato basil sauce with pasta and grilled Italian sausage. My mouth waters just thinking about that sauce. š
My guess is dinner is around 13 points – I have no idea how to calculate the pasta sauce.
So a while back I was asked if I wanted to try out some granola from Love Grown Foods. I absolutely love granola, although typically steer clear of it because of the dense calorie count and its high in carbs, which means more insulin for me. (and as a quick FYI . . . if you Google “spread the love” and click on the first one that shows up – you’ll be taken to a porn site!)
So I was pleasantly surprised when I noticed the nutritional information – the calories per 1/4 cup range from about 110 to 130 – and the carbs range from 17-19 grams. More bonuses:
- Free of Refined Sugar
- Free of High Fructose Corn Syrup
- Free of Trans Fats
- Free of Hydrogenated Oils
- Free of Artificial Flavors
- Free of Preservatives
- Free of Gluten
- Free of Genetically Modified Ingredients
The best bonus?! It’s delicious! Want to give it a try? Check out the flavors below and leave a comment and let me know which one you’d like to try. So three winners – good luck and I’ll pick a winner on Monday, July 11.
- cocoa goodness
- raisin almond crunch
- sweet cranberry pecan
Stats for Thursday:
- 33 points, including pretzels at night – I am not safe around pretzels š
- 50 minute bike ride
- average blood sugar 121
I am going to my first yoga class tomorrow – its at 8:20 a.m. until 10:00! So I’ll be at the early 7:00 a.m. WW meeting – guess I am going to bed early tonight. š
Have a great Friday!
Cocoa Goodness, please! I <3 granola!
Really glad to hear you enjoyed the yoga class and plan to go back. Having a good instructor makes all the difference. Enjpy the rest of your wknd.
I so want to make that tomato sauce, but I think I gained 10 lbs just from knowing that there’s 2 cups of olive oil in the recipe!
I think that Apple Walnut sounds like having a huge bowl of crunchy apple pie in the morning. š
Sweet Cranberry Pecan – yum! Good luck at yoga and the weigh in this morning!
Cranberry Pecan please. I love cranberries!!
I am with you on the automated phone systems. They suck big time!!
you always make your food look so good! I would want to try the cocoa goodness. Have a great weekend!
Grilled italian sausage is one of my favorite things! YUM! and I would definitely go for the cocoa goodness first š
Couldn’t reply to your comment via email (I really need to do something about that)… and wanted to tell you I’ve been reading your blog every day š I’m addicted. Also wanted to say, have a great weekend !
PS Ceviche RULES. So light and easy to make. Hope you like it, if you try it!
Cranberry Pecan sounds incredible, Vat š !!!!
That granola sounds great – I also love granola but tend to avoid it since it’s so calorie-dense…this one sounds like a great option! I would love to try the sweet cranberry pecan…yum!
Also – I know what you mean about automated phone systems…SO ANNOYING! Also obnoxious are systems/phone numbers that want you to input things based on the letters that go along with numbers on a normal phone (like I think 1 = ABC)…um, I have a blackberry and it doesn’t have that labelled, so I have no clue how to put it in without doing a search online, which often isn’t convenient when I’m in the middle of a phone call! Grrr.
Automated phone systems? SO annoying- I can’t deal!! That breakfast? Still making me hungry. Lunch may have me grumbling even more. Kind of makes me want Mexican tonight! Have fun at yoga tomorrow and hope the WW meeting goes well!
Seriously….I was feeling my blood pressure rise just imagining that phone call!!!
definitely cocoa goodness~
Raisin almond crunch please!!!
I can feel your frustration! I have been having to make a lot of those phone calls lately and it just takes FOREVER to be able to talk to a real person.
At least you had the most delicious breakfast from the looks of it!
Hi Biz! (VAT?????)
As always, fantastic photos. Hope weigh in goes well tomorrow. Happy Friday!!
Ugh! Don’t you just hate it when you get someone on the phone like that? Ugh! Your food looks amazing like always. Keep up the good work š
I lurve granola! I eat it just as a snack – never with milk LOL.
Great job on the ride. Too bad we don’t still live in IL or I would go riding with you š
I am so glad that someone else shares the name Biz. My sister graced me with the nickname when I was 3 and it’s followed me ever since. Nice to meet another one!
Cocoa goodness sounds delicious and I’d love to try it!!!
The cocoa goodness granola would be my pick. LOVE that chocolate!
Hate those automated phone connections and the people who can’t speak or understand English are even worse!!!! The sweet cranberry pecan granola sounds great.
ugh…don’t even get me started on poor phone customer service and outsourcing….
I’d love to try the cocoa goodness…how is the fat content? Always looking for something crunchy and not too high in stuff to sprinkle on my yogurt.
Rasin Almond Crunch!
Your burrito looks so yummy!!
I’d love to try the raisin almond crunch.
You had me at cranberry pecan. And 3 cups of sugar in brownies? EEK! Good luck with the yoga–I took ONE yoga class. I kept falling over. Humiliating!
Oh I hate that! I go crazy trying to get a human sometimes and I want to pull my hair out when it’s someone who doesn’t speak English well. I’d like to try the cocoa goodness.
The automated phone thing grates on my nerves!! What the heck?!
Seriously? Cocoa goodness, hands down. But I love all granola.
Sounds like a great bike ride. I was a slug yesterday. Husband in Detroit on a business trip.
All three flavors sound delicious, but Cocoa Goodness would be my first choice!! Good luck with your yoga class – try as I might, I just cannot “zone out” enough to feel any benefit!
That granola sounds fantastic! I’d like to try any of the flavors, but if I had to choose I’d go with sweet cranberry pecan. š
Raisin Almond Crunch for me!
Hey! Remember the crack pretzels? I made them and brought them to work last week and now I’ve been forbidden from ever bringing them again.
Cranberry Pecan for me, please. Have a great weekend!
The same thing happened to me when I called Cricket. Apparently, the woman lived in India. UGH! I couldn’t understand a word she was saying. Anyway, I would love to try the Cranberry Pecan granola. Thanks.
I love cranberries – but all of them sounds great! Thanks š
Oh I hate those phone things!!! And it seems it has gotten harder to get to a real person.
Hands down the cocoa goodness, another way to add the benefits of chocolate to your day!
Oo I would love to try the cocoa goodness.
Good luck at yoga – hope you like it! I wonder how big the 15 point brownies are.
Oooooh I’d love to try the cranberry pecan.
Have fun at yoga tomorrow. I hope you like it. The trick is to go in with an open mind, because there are ALWAYS weirdos in every class and sometimes the instructors can be fruitcakes too. š I am totally craving italian sausage nowwww, haha.
