Eeeek! I am so excited for this weekend I can’t even tell you. I am excited not only for the race, but to meet up with some long time blog readers and friends. I am hanging out with Jessica tonight, Kris tomorrow and Mel and Jory for brunch/lunch on Sunday.
I was getting a bit nervous a couple days ago because I couldn’t find anything specific about race details. I checked yesterday again and they updated their site and had a 13 page participant package that had all the details and I feel much better about that. I learned a few things:
- Since this is a stadium race, they don’t want you to wear your bib with pins in them – they said “pin it up at home” so I have to wear a head band that has my bibb number on it
- Since this is a stadium race, 90% of the race is on concrete – they will be using LOTS of stairs and using the ramps in between the obstacles
- There is a bag drop for $5 so I don’t have to worry about what to do with my stuff
- Party time! After the race they will have food and drinks available and there will be a DJ all day long
- The race is 3 miles long with 23 obstacles
- When I finish I’ll get a t-shirt and a fucking medal!
Here are some pics from other stadium races:
My only goal is to finish. I went back to the last Spartan race that was at Miller Park in November and searched the times for my age group:45-49. The fastest time was 55 minutes from a 49 year old woman, and the longest time was two hours and 40 minutes for a 47 year old woman. So I am hoping to finish in between those times!
Here’s a quick look at my eats yesterday and the place I’ll be meeting Mel and Jory on Sunday – I looked up their menu and it looks amazeballs! One of the things I am going to be changing after this race is my diet. I’ve been working out so much that I’ve just been eating and not paying too much attention to getting all my fruits and veggies in – yesterday was kind of an example of that. Oh, and I suck at intuitively eating – I’ll be going back to calorie count next week.
Alright, I have to throw my last load of laundry in the dryer. I have a half day today so when I get home I need to finish packing and getting on the road. Wish me luck! Oh, and follow me on Instagram (My Bizzy Kitchen) if you want to see what I am up to.
Have a wonderful holiday weekend! I’ll be back on Tuesday for a weekend recap. Make it a great day!
Good luck!!! Have a great time in Milwaukee – my home town!
Benelux is delicious — get the sweet potato fries and a bunch of dipping sauces.
And I second a visit to the Public Market — a great stop for any foodie!
Good luck and have fun. Also, if you like frozen custard, check out Leon’s. Julie worked there as a teen.

You’ve GOT this! I’m not nearly up to your fitness level, but you keep me inspired to keep it going.
Congrats! You will finish and do great and I wanted to be the first person to tell you. Have a safe drive, be strong, which is something I know you are. And have fun!
Have fun with the race! At least, since it’s in a stadium, you won’t get as muddy as the Spartan racers did in Austin, so that will be nice, right? I’m sure you’ll do great!
Ooohhh that looks fun! Good luck! Can’t wait to hear about it!
Good Luck, Biz! You’ll do great, and I can’t wait to read and see all about it.
GOOD LUCK & HAVE FUN! Be sure to check out the Milwaukee Market- it’s a great stop for a foodie! You’ll be close by @ Café Benelux. Have fun meeting every one – that sounds like the best part of the weekend…Oh, but maybe not better than you kicking ass in the race – GO BIZ!
