I didn’t forget. . .

to weigh in yesterday.  You see, both Friday and Saturday night I stayed up late to watch some of my shows on the DVR.  Tony went to bed and Friday night I stayed up until 1:00 a.m. watching American Idol!  And of course, with no one looking, the cheese and crackers came out and it was a lot of mindless eating. Embarrassed smile

I don’t know why I do it, like if no one sees me eating it doesn’t really count.  And I worked out over the weekend, so I don’t know why I would waste that time at the gym by eating food making it a wash.  Gah.   But, the weekend is over, this is a new week, and I’ll just have to dust myself off.

Since I still have the panini machine at work, I decided to make my boss and I breakfast paninis.  I found burrito size tortillas that are 140 calories each, and the filling was egg whites, baby spinach, an ounce of ham and 1/2 an ounce of cheese.  I cooked the egg/spinach/ham mixture at home, then assembled them at work.

We both really liked these – of course, I doused mine in Buffalo Tabasco after this picture was taken. Devil

My gym bag was packed and I decided to do a 5k on the treadmill.  I walked 2 minutes, then ran three minutes, and each subsequent three minute runs I went faster.  My last three minute run was at an 8:45 minute pace!  Not a bad time for walking/running a 5k!

Tony and I went out for Chinese over the weekend, and I hate to waste leftovers, so I had a cup and a half of our leftovers – his was pan noodles with a bunch of different meat, mine was kung pao shrimp.

Check out my score at the 50% off bin!

I decided to make us taco salads for dinner.  I forget how good these are.  Mine was lettuce and baby spinach with cucumber, diced tomato, and chopped pickled asparagus.

With ground sirloin, kidney beans and a dollop of Wholly Guacamole – yum!  My dressing was 1/3 cup of my baja fresh salsa mixed with 1 tablespoon light ranch.

The spicy guacamole is amazeballs!

So while it was 51 degrees yesterday afternoon, this morning is 11 degrees, with a wind-chill of zero, and snow flurries are expected.  I am so done with this winter already!  When I posted the temp on facebook, I was a bit jealous of people who had temps in the 70s!  (Kelly and Charlie, I am looking at you two!)

Right now I have a batch of banana granola pancakes going with the new Chobani flavor of banana yogurt.  They look good!  I’ll post the recipe tomorrow.  I also have a three bean pork chili for lunch today – I made it over the weekend so it will be interesting to see how the flavors melded together.

Question of the Day:  Do you eat when no one is looking?

Make it a great day!

ow ow for breakfast burritos! And taco salad. I want your day of eats! My day of eats wasn’t as exciting. Since I had to teach two classes yesterday (morning and night)- I had a lot of portable eats. My most guilty eat (when no ones looking) is PB right from the jar ;)

Absolutely. In fact, since I haven’t been able to run/workout, it’s gotten worse. That needs to change! I need some accountability and I am going to start posting my eats like you do.

I love that you use the panini press to make a grilled burrito. Genius! I’ve also seen a George Foreman grill used as a panini press!

It’s hard when you are injured though Carrie – I totally get that!

Just had a conversation with my friend Em about how easy it is to get into a pattern of completely undoing workouts by overeating. It truly can be a frustrating pattern. You do realize though that avoiding the scale doesn’t change what the reality is? Just because you didn’t get on the scale, doesn’t mean you didn’t eat the cheese and crackers. It just means you didn’t get on the scale. Personally I think you have to decide if the scale is important in your life plan overall. If it is, then don’t avoid it. If it isn’t then just let it go.

Loved this comment Helen – I’ve decided to WI tomorrow and face the music – I need to be accountable for my actions. :D

I ate my weight in pretzel M&M’s last night…basically hiding from my kids so they wouldn’t see. How screwed up is that?! I felt like kicking my own ass afterwards.

    • biz319 February 19, 2013 at 7:50 pm Reply

Okay, what the fuck are pretzel M&M’s?!! The sweet and salty combo is amazeballs. Hugs!

I do eat when nobody is looking, but not so it won’t “count”, mostly so that I don’t have to share my chocolate peanut butter cups. :)

    • biz319 February 19, 2013 at 7:50 pm Reply

Ha! Your son is absolutely beautiful Marcia – I hope you decide to share more pics of him. I can’t believe he’s 7 months old already!

Score on Wholly Guacamole!! That’s awesome, because it can be pretty pricy. Are those asparagus spears any good? I’ve often seen them, and I love things like pickles, and I love asparagus, but I never buy them because I’m not sure they’ll be worth it.

    • biz319 February 19, 2013 at 7:52 pm Reply

They are so worth it Michelle – especially since you like pickles. They are crisp, sour, tart all at the same time. That jar says its 1.5 servings, each serving is 60 calories, it’s the sodium that gets you on these – each serving has 550 mg of sodium! (just drink lots of water!)

I have been struggling with binge eating lately – it’s not something I’ve ever struggled with so not sure why. I am 3 days binge free, though, so I need to pay more attention and keep the damn tortilla chips out of the house! :)

    • biz319 February 19, 2013 at 7:52 pm Reply

I am with ya sista, why do salty things taste so fricken good?!

  8. Andrea@WellnessNotes February 19, 2013 at 10:08 am Reply

I used to eat a lot when no one was looking, and it led to quite a bit of extra weight. And cheese and crackers could get me into a whole lot of trouble…

I had to make a conscious decision to close the kitchen when it wasn’t time for a meal. At night, I have some herbal tea and then brush my teeth. Now that’s my signal that the kitchen is closed.

    Have a great week!

    • biz319 February 19, 2013 at 7:53 pm Reply

I need to make that sign “kitchen closed” and put it on the counter after I finishe cleaning up the dishes – great idea! And I just brushed my teeth for TWO minutes. :D

Brrr on your weather…dang, that is cold. Poor Lyle – I hope he has a cozy spot to stay warm! Tony should build him a little shelter – a squirrel house. Complete with peanuts!

    • biz319 February 19, 2013 at 7:54 pm Reply

Yep, you wouldn’t survive a week of these temps Shelley!

  10. Melanie February 19, 2013 at 10:28 am Reply

I think I workout just to eat. Especially cheese. But I don’t really care who is looking. I just eat. Especially cheese.

    • biz319 February 19, 2013 at 7:54 pm Reply

That would be fine if I was at goal weight, but I am not. But, if you and I ever met we’d have a cheese fest! :D

I try to eat with Ralph because I have found that I can get a bit carried away when I have no accountability!
Chinese and taco salad it doesn’t get much better than that :)

  12. Katelyn Rose February 19, 2013 at 11:00 am Reply

Yes that is my main problem :( I am soooo good throughout the day…..then I get home and BAM bad habits set in. I eat dinner…..then I keep eating and eating and eating. It’s sooo bad. People at work have commented “Katelyn, I’ve never seen you eat anything unhealthy. You have so much will power!” Which true, during the day when I’m around people. At night, all bets are off. And yes, my weight has suffered because of it :(

    • biz319 February 19, 2013 at 7:55 pm Reply

Sending big hugs your way Katelyn – here’s to both of us not eating after dinner tonight! :D

Most of the time I have someone taking food away while I eat, so that is helpful. But my favorite time of the day to eat is when both boys are in bed and I can sit in peace and quiet and eat whatever I want!

P.S. You HAVE to try the wingless buffalo chicken pizza!

    • biz319 February 19, 2013 at 7:56 pm Reply

Yep Courtney, that buffalo chicken pizza is going to be on my menu soon – I am going to link to it tomorrow to share the buffalo love. :D

  14. Heather Mursch February 19, 2013 at 11:32 am Reply

Ugh, it’s my worst vice. Every afternoon when I get home from work and the boys are busy!! It’s a habit I’m really trying to break.

    • biz319 February 19, 2013 at 7:56 pm Reply

Hope J had a great birthday Heather – so happy you found true happiness in a marriage! You deserve it!

  15. Weighting For 50 February 19, 2013 at 1:26 pm Reply

I used to eat when nobody was looking quite often. Partly the reason I’m on weight watchers I think, ’cause that unaccounted calorie intake can add the lbs.

  16. Rhonda February 19, 2013 at 2:04 pm Reply

Sometimes after Tom falls asleep I will sneak into his potato chips, I don’t know why!? I guess chips are my vice :)

    • biz319 February 19, 2013 at 7:57 pm Reply

Have you seen the new Sriracha Lays chips? I need to find those – yep, chips are like crack. But good crack. :D

  17. findingradiance February 19, 2013 at 3:23 pm Reply

I nibble when alone and it is a habit that I try to get out of because I did a lot of secret eating/binging when I was really overweight. At the end of the day, I will tell John if I snacked and stuff to sort of ‘admit’ to it or something so it isn’t a guilt thing. That also helps to remind me that I don’t need to be eating it, knowing I am going to talk about it later LOL!

    • biz319 February 19, 2013 at 7:57 pm Reply

      That’s a great idea Lori!

  18. Renee@Mykitchenadventures February 19, 2013 at 4:30 pm Reply

I do. I’m totally guilty. I guess I’m ashamed to eat certain things in front of others.

I have leftover chinese from PF changs in the fridge which I will morph into fried rice for dinner tonight…and it will probably have both chicken and shrimp in it, since that’s what I have left over meat wise.

    • biz319 February 19, 2013 at 7:58 pm Reply

Just drink lots of water! I think I need to add sodium to my radar – some days I think its more than 4,000 in a day! Hugs!

  19. Fran February 20, 2013 at 2:53 am Reply

Yes guilty! And like you I convince myself that if no one sees it, it doesn’t count. Pretty stupid are we, right? :) I need to get back on track again, too many little bites here and there that I don’t enter at WW (again if I don’t enter the food, I didn’t have it).

I want to work with you because I want you to make me those delicious breakfasts and the Friday soup too. Does your manager realize how lucky she is with you?

  20. Aimee February 20, 2013 at 4:05 am Reply

It’s a good thing my peanut butter jars can’t talk. I used to have a really bad habit of eating when no one was looking. In years past I would purposely not journal food while on WW as if that made it not count. How dumb!

I just bought some Wholly guacamole because my store had a coupon. I can’t wait to try it.

    Nice job on the run.

Salsa + ranch? Oh my…that sounds heavenly! Especially YOUR salsa – the best! :) I eat donuts when no one’s looking…in very small pieces when I walk by them. I have asked time and time again that hubby not buy them, or if he does, to buy just 1-2 for him so they’re GONE. But, no…they just sit there and call my name. And they’re my most favorite splurge food :(
