I can’t be trusted.

See that .99 cent bag of trail mix up there?  Seems innocent enough – some nuts, raisins and a few m&m’s.  Throughout the day yesterday I kept reaching my hand in, eating it, loving the salty/sweet combo.  In my head I thought it would be 5 WW points at most.

Um, not so much.  My 3 ounce bag of train mix?  Try 10 points!  That’s almost like eating a 4th meal for the day.  :(    I can’t have trail mix or pretzels in my vacinity, I just have no control!

Breakfast was a spinach egg sammie with sauteed bananas with raisins and pumpkin seeds on the side – seems like a weird combo, but it was really good – 9 points for breakfast.

Work was super crazy.  One of the secretaries was on vacation the rest of this week, so I became the go to person – I ended up having to eat lunch at my desk and didn’t get out to exercise that’s how busy it was.  Which makes me even more mad that the trail mix was so point heavy on the one day I didn’t exercise.

Since I am making lunches for my SIL who is on WW (she’s so close to losing 10 pounds!) I am trying to broaden her tastes.  She’s never had Indian food, so I thought I would introduce her to my version of chicken tikka masala.  You can find the recipe here.  She loved it!  Lunch comes in at 9 points with the brown rice.

Dinner was simple, I really didn’t have the energy to be that creative.  Sloppy joes and fries.  Remember when I said that I wanted to get 10 servings of fruits and veggies in every day?  Turns out it didn’t happen yesterday!  Dinner was 13 points.

Totally off subject, our shower drain has been so slow, mostly because of clogged hair – gross, I know, but Tony bought this $3 tool and it worked amazing!  Our drain has never run quicker!

AFter dinner Hannah and I went to Good will and then to Deer Park Mall, where my favorite Williams Sonoma store is.  Most of their stuff is way too $$, but I got a few deals.  Check out this product – um, pretty sure I’ll be making fried chicken this weekend.  Normally sold for $18, but I got it for $3.75!

And I won the lottery!  $20 big ones!  Tony won $100 earlier in the week, so pretty sure I need to check my power ball ticket from last night to confirm I won $111 million dollars. :D

Stats for Wednesday:

  • 41 points
  • no exercise
  • average blood sugar 124

Q:  What food is like crack to you?  Make it a great day!

OMG, I can’t be trusted around trail mix either. It’s just TOO GOOD!
And you’re a lucky lady – I never win on scratch off tickets. That’s such a fun surprise!

I can’t be trusted around sweet and salty. Chocolate covered pretzels are my crack and the one food that is pretty much off-limits to me because I have absolutely no control. I truly believe that everything in moderation is ok but I’ve learned that that those sweet salty delicious chocolate covered pretzels are one thing I am just unable to moderate so they must be avoided.

    Have a great day!

Oh my gosh- trail mix is definitely like crack to me. ALSO- dried fruit! Especially pineapple or mango- I cannot be trusted. I fly through a whole bag and then my tummy goes on strike (I can’t blame it). The fruit saute sounds awesome to me! And I want your dinner fries asap. Williams Sonoma is the best store!

I can’t be trusted with trail mix either! Trader Joe’s sells one with cashews, almonds, chocolate, pistachios and dried cherries that is amazing.

Like crack to me…hummm…some kind of carb. Like bruschetta. Or bread with tapenade.

Salty foods esp. with chocolate is crack for me. Yesterday I grabbed a small child sized hand full of roasted salted peanuts. I didn’t even bother to check the stats b/c I’m sure it was way up there. Cheeze-its and raisins together, gold fish, chex mix, man oh man PEANUT BUTTER!!! It’s the devil in disguise.

Mine is cheese or potatoes. Never met a potato I didn’t like.
I hope you continue to do well.

WW ice cream candy bars are crack to me. I can’t buy them anymore or I eat the whole damn box. Peanut butter is tough too. Mmmm peanut butter. My stomach just said “yes, please.”

I’ve learned that if nuts are involved, the points are high. It takes very few almonds to amount to 5 points plus. I have to portion EVERYTHING out when it comes to nuts.

Trail mix never lasts around me. I love, love, love the sweet and salty combo. YUM! I’m also a big fan of sloppy joes for a quick and easy meal! So good!

I’m the same way with trail mix!! But at least you counted it and moved on! I hate when I don’t tally something up BEFORE I eat it. Last week, I had a salad at corner bakery (without cheese or bacon) but afterwards, I looked it up and it still came in at 14 pts! I think with all the stuff it would have been 21! lol

My tub drain is really clogged up right now and can’t seem to get it unclogged! What is that little contraption?? It helps unclog the drain? I must look into that!

Chips (esp), crackers, pretzels… anything salty and crunchy is my weakness! I’ll keep going back ‘for just a couple’ and somehow the bag/ box turn up empty in less than 48 hours. Salty + Crunchy = Food Crack lol

I kid you not- I ran pas ad hoc every day for 4 days during our stay in Napa Valley (yountsville!) – so funny! I heard their brunch is amazing!

And you know we’re obsessed with that Indian dish – AWESOME! It was the most restaurant-like Indian i’ve ever made!

I’m the same with trail mix! i end up sticking mine in my freezer in hopes of forgetting about it so i don’t devour all of it!

BBQ Pop Chips and BBQ Veggie Straws have been my crack as of lately. I used to hate BBQ flavored anything. Who am I?

Woo Hoo Vat….things happen in “3′s”, so with Tony’s win a few days ago and your win yesterday…that just sets you up for the BIGGIE!!!! 10 points?? Holy pointage batman…that’s up there! What food is like crack to me? Cheese. And the sharper and stinkier the better. (that sounds bad!) Have a great day!!!!!

Congrats on the winning lottery tickets!!! Let’s hope for the big payout next! :)

I hear ya on the trail mix. And M&M’s in general…or Junior Mints. One box equals one serving, no matter how big (think movie theater size) the box, lol!

  22. Sarah July 28, 2011 at 7:55 pm Reply

Trail Mix is not my friend because in my mind if it is in a tiny bag then how much harm can it do. I am the same weigh with any types of finger foods like that.

I love that you find all of the deals. Yesterday my oldest and I went to our local Goodwill like store and got so many bargains! Three pairs of name brand jean shorts for 2.97. I could not go wrong!

Good homemade cookies….can’t be trusted with them. Esp. chocolate chip!

congrats on the winnings! I need to look for that drain cleaning thing! Hair drain is a big problem in this house too! and such a yucky one! lol

I love trail mix, but I am like you – I can’t have it. The sodium is too high :( I miss salted nuts so, so much. Sigh. Just when you think you are doing something “healthy” – bam! not.so.much.

I had no idea they had “kits” to make fried chicken – that’s awesome and looks yummy. Pictures please. heehee

  25. Dave Scott July 28, 2011 at 9:37 pm Reply

    10 points… just not right

I am exactly like you. If it’s in the house, promise I eat it.

Why are you using drain cleaner in your fried chicken???

And snack crackers… Cheese-its … crack to me

  26. sara July 28, 2011 at 10:05 pm Reply

For me – and this is terrible – it’s mini Reeses peanut butter cups and chips!!!

I am always on and off WW. My mom lost 54 pounds doing it. I would of had that whole bag of trail mix gone in one sitting! I also have control issues!

  28. weightwatchingfoodie July 29, 2011 at 1:23 am Reply

    Yumm…

Terra Chips are my crack. I can seriously eat an entire bag in one sitting. I LOVE THEM!! Especially when I find them at Big Lots for $1.50 a bag. SO YUMMY!!!

I hate it when I discover I have eaten something that is so high points like that!

I have recently discovered Indian and Afgan Food and I love it! I am dabbling in making it at home as well so I really appreciate the recipe. The Indian spices are so flavorful and such a departure from American food.

Cheese-Its are like crack for me-can’t stay out of them once I start.

    Good luck on the scale!

I don’t have that grocery store near me. But I don’t really have a favorite right now. I hope around depending on which one looks like it has better sales that week. I rarely shop at Jewel and NEVER at dominicks! lol

Those peppers look great! 10 pts+ seems kinda high for one but splurging a little never hurts! I’ve never had them with cheese before! Yum!
